Barking Dogs Video Clips
Huddled under my umbrella the other day, I was dodging raindrops and puddles as I walked the three blocks from the parking garage to my office. As I was passing an apartment building, I saw an elderly woman standing near the entrance holding an umbrella over her little white poodle dog. Unfortunately, the umbrella wasn't large enough to cover both her and the dog, so she was getting soaked. Unable to withhold comment, I said, Do you think he'll melt if he gets wet? She responded, Well, he's sweet enough to melt, but the truth is that if I don't hold the umbrella for him he gets angry and pouts and won't eat his lunch. And, by dinner time he's an absolute bear! Welcome to the world of the pampered pet.
Although man's best friend has always been his dog, the degree to which man has rewarded that friendship has quite possibly gotten out of hand. Evidence to support that statement can be found in the food we give our pets, the attire we put on their backs, the jewelry with which we adorn them, the amenities we provide in their surroundings and the provisions we make for their temporary care when we absolutely have to leave them behind. If necessary, we send Rover to counseling sessions with dog psychologists, provide outrageously expensive dental care, clip/wash/curl their hair and make sure their nails are done so as not to embarrass them in front of their friends.
How many of us have spent a restless night because Missy, our pug faced Pekinese, can't seem to get comfortable in our bed or Bull, our six ounce Chihuahua, growls and snaps at us when we roll over on him. Yes, for those of you that are disbelievers, many people do share their beds with their doggies. In fact, I've heard of many cases where couples sleep apart rather than crowd the dog. Have you ever tried to argue with a sleepy Doberman Pincher? Forget about it!
A thriving and lucrative industry has grown up around the pampered pet. Pet owners spend multi-millions each year on their little four-legged friends. Occasionally the news media will offer a blurb about the pet owner who spent hundreds, even thousands of dollars on a diamond studded dog collar for Fluffy. However, this phenomenon is actually rather commonplace. Pick up the Yellow Pages in any city and you'll find scads of pet salons that offer expensive pet jewelry and accessories. And just because you've gone to the expense of buying that ruby red sweater, with matching rubies, for Fifi, don't think your obligation have been fulfilled. If Fifi can't have a gold rimmed feeding bowl, like her friends have, she'll no doubt have to double up on her counseling sessions. The expense of this could easily exceed the cost of the bowl.
Now let's get down to diet what can we feed Prince, the proud Rottweiler? To be honest, Prince isn't all that fond of dry dog food. He'll eat some of it, but only if mixed with some of that delicious lamb gravy he likes. And, just like most of us, he prefers light fare in the mornings; perhaps a few scrambled eggs and just a slice or two of bacon. Careful not to overfeed though; he likes his lunch of broiled liver at precisely 12 noon. No need to make a big fuss about dinner though, he'll usually eat some (or most) of whatever it is that you're having.
This scenario might involve a slight stretch, but it is certainly not too far fetched. We worry more about what our pets will eat, or if they're off their feed, than we worry about what our kids eat. I wonder how it is we know that our kids will eat when they get hungry, but we can't accept that this truism might apply to our dogs too. We feel compelled to continue to offer our dogs a full menu from which to select and if all else fails, it's time to schedule a trip to the Vet.
Speaking of Veterinarians - most of them now offer direct deposit so your entire paycheck can be directed right into their accounts. Veterinary expenses have gone through the roof and there's no end to the elaborate medical procedures now being provided routinely. A friend who bellyached for months about the cost of dental appliances (braces) for his kid willingly shelled out 00 to fix his dog's overbite because Tiger appeared to be in discomfort when chewing on his rawhide bone.
Now that we've clearly established that we spoil our dogs, let's offer a word or two in our own defense. Dogs love us without reservation. Scold them, treat then meanly, tease them, leave them for long periods of time or forget to feed them and they'll still love you and want nothing more than to be near you. Throughout history, dogs have given their lives for their masters. Police dogs will face an armed attacker to protect their handler and Seeing Eye dogs will risk death or injury to steer their Charge away from a speeding car. A dog's love for its master is pure and unquestioning. In my opinion, they deserve all the pampering they can get.
Pets make us feel good. They comfort us, allow us to be ourselves and give those of us that need it, a reason for living.

QUESTION:
Annoying barking dogs next door: What can i do legally?
My neighbor has 4 large dogs which she keeps on chains in her front yard most the time. The bark ALL THE TIME. In fact, i have filed 2 different police complaints about the dogs, and have submitted 3 video clips of the barking dogs as evidence. Along with this, the dogs often get off their chains, and come into my yard and poop. On 2 occasions, i have had to call the cops to have the dogs removed from my property.I feel like the cops in my town are lazy. They keep telling the lady to keep her dogs quiet, but as soon as they drive away, her dogs are back outside barking! (Just so you know, i live in a small town with only 4 cops, all of which are old and have been on the job for 10+ years each. If something isn't directly affecting them, they just don't seem to care.) Oh, and another neighbor has complained as well. We both have copies of all our records.
I am really getting tired of the barking dogs. I have bought ear plugs to wear to bed, and have even tried over-the-counter sleep aid, because the dogs will bark until 3AM at times! I feel like my complaints are useless. I am NOT moving out of a house i own just because of barking dogs - it would take forever to sell my house in this economy anyway.
What can i LEGALLY do about the problem?
(If it helps, i live in Missouri)THANKS!
-
ANSWER:
File a complaint with the city/county. There are usually bylaws for this sort of thing.

QUESTION:
wolf dream characterisctics just please read?
Wolf dream thing? i need help please?
Ok, I'm 13. My friend has just recently told me that one of my ancestors blood brothered (means to cut open skin and mix it with another person) with an off spring of a wolf and a human, so I have wolf blood (weird, right?). Anyways, my dream is kind of weird so bare with me.
Alright so in my dream I am 13, I was abandoned at 5 and left to live on the streets, so I had extreme survival skills and street smarts. Then this secret military branch of agent people, their head dude told them to get me because I would be a very good assassin person jazz stuff. When they find me I run to the forest, and I mean as fast as I can, I could smell the pine trees as I sprint by them. They finally catch up to me and corner me. They tranquilize me and the first time doesn't work so the third time finally gets me down. They come up and as I'm trying to keep my eyes open they are all looking down at me and then I black out. When I wake up I am in a cage on the ground in a white room and am I'm terrified. A woman walks up to me and I'm a shaking, fidgety mess. She asks me a ton of questions but I don't trust her so she doesn't get many answers out of me. Somehow they already know my name. So there are many other people training but in there 20's. They take one of there legit agents and make her pretend like she was one of the agents in training to get to know me because she was young like 18. I'm still scared and I don't know where to go. So the head people focus on me and personally train me themselves. They are astonished at what i can do. And a couple times i would get mad and freak out. So they put me in this straight jacket thing and told me the only way to get out of it was to lower my heart rate and chill out. And i went at it for hours on end until i gave up and my heart rate slowly went down and it got off. A year goes by and I'm a little more open to them. Then they test my blood. Nothing came up. They were confused and tried it twice, so they figured to try out different kinds of blood to match it up with mine and here's the good part... they try wolf blood. And guess what? It's a match, and when they inject me with some I go nuts. Snarling and jerking everywhere...And an eighth of my left eye turn yellow (my eyes are green blue). So as months go by they inject me with more and more wolf blood and taking out more and more of my human-ish blood. So now my left eyes is completely yellow and I am very changed. They test me by putting me in an isolated white room and watch me by a video camera in another room. I'm just circling the room because I don't know what to do. And they almost have to reteach me how to talk and stuff. My physical appearances in the dream are now longer feet, One yellow eye (and the other is green blue), redder hair (more than it is now in real life), and im fidgety more and whenever there was a noise or movement I'd jump.
The End. so far...
Back to the real world guys. This dream has been playing itself over and over for the past week in different clips. I need to answers please. I don't wanna believe that she is right about me being part wolf. I'm kind of creeped out by the idea. So no sarcastic comments please? thanks. Let me know if im not the only one?

1st off...BS Wolves and Humans can't mate despite what your "friend" told you about your "ancestor". Funny thing, why did your friend know this about your family but you did not.I have been studying sleeping & dreaming for decades. Even if you had been hypnotized there is no way you could remember all these details.
I must admit though. They way you described the chase and capture, it's almost as if you were inside a wolf's mind as it really happens. I believe in such things....but hey, I believe what you have here is BS. I doubt you are even 13. When ya finish the whole story and get it published let me know so I can get a copy. ANSWER:
You wouldn't have wolf blood. Two reasons for this. The first is that 'blood brothering', when you grasp hands (or other typical methods) and blood transfers from person to person, the blood remains on the surface. Diseases can be transferred in this way, but DNA and any significant amount of blood cannot. This means the person who did this would actually still only have their own blood in their own body. (A transfusion would be a different story, but a blood transfusion between and wolf and human would result in death for whoever was receiving the blood.)The second problem is that wolf and human DNA cannot mix. A child between the two is just not sexually viable. We have a different number of chromosomes, which means different instructions telling the body how to grow. Short of it: wolf-human hybrids do not exist, so it is impossible for your ancestor to have blood brothered with a half wolf to begin with. It is impossible for a person to be half wolf and half human. You are fully human and human is all you can be physically.
Therianthropy refers to the state of being/ identifying as an animal internally. It isn't physical. If you don't identify as a wolf, then you're not a wolf therian. Simple as that.
Sounds like a really intense (and awesome) dream, but don't sweat too much. You're human.
Hope this helps.

ANSWER:
About the wolf thing, chill. You get the same DNA effects from eating wolf. You get the same from eating cow or chicken, so you are more cow or chicken then wolf. Bc the term you are what you eat is true. Now you know you wouldn't have dreamed about the wolf blood until you heard your friend say this. Now to you dream:
You feel that a part of your life wants attention and your subconscious tells you that you are going about it in all the wrong ways. You do not feel like you have as much control of your life as you want.

The Facts on Separation Anxiety
Separation anxiety is a common problem among dogs. Separation anxiety is when a dog negatively reacts to being left alone. If not managed or treated, severe separation anxiety can cause destructive behavior in your dog. To keep your dog from developing a fear of separation, you can crate train it, so that it will learn how to be independent at times. There are no direct causes of separation anxiety. Most of the time, the fear of separation only develops as the puppy is growing up. Separation anxiety is most common among dogs that are used to being with its owner. Some dogs can also be extremely sensitive, and can develop separation anxiety issues when some changes within the household occur, like when one of the owners move away or goes away for a long time.
Telltale Signs of Separation Anxiety
Sepation anxiety signs center on destructive behavior, heightened during the first few hours after the dog is left alone. Leave a dog with separation anxiety issues alone and it will do any one of the following: barking or making a lot of noise, crying, digging, scratching on doors, urinating or defecating in uncontrolled places, and other abnormal behavior that exhibits distress. A dog suffering from separation anxiety can do much damage to your house and your furniture. If you have no way of knowing if your dog shows such behavior after you leave, try to look for other signs as well. Other separation anxiety signs include the dog's tendency to remain in your presence when you are home, or frantically jumps on you as soon as you get home. If your dog also seems apprehensive or scared about being outside, or being left in his crate, it may have separation anxiety issues.
Treat Separation Anxiety
There are different ways to treat separation anxiety. Since the fear of separation occurs differently and in varying degrees from one dog to another, the separation anxiety treatment that your dog needs depends on the severity of the case. One common separation anxiety treatment used by most dog owners is desensitization. This is the act of desensitizing your dog to the idea of being alone. Desensitization is a lengthy process. To administer this, you need time and patience. Take your dog repeatedly through the process of you leaving the house until its responses becomes calmer. When you feel that your dog is ready, start practicing his independence through short absences first then lengthening it as time passes. Desensitization can be a very challenging process at first, but as your dog warms up to the idea of being left alone, you will be able to manage its separation anxiety better. For dogs that show extremely destructive responses to separation, consult your veterinarian for drugs that can treat separation anxiety.

Does anyone have the link to this video? Its a guy talking in the background. The dog in the video is a small dog and the video is kinda creepy. The narration goes kind of like this:

What is it looking at?
Is there something there that your dog can see and you cant?
if so why doesn't your dog bark or growl?

Okay, I would like to buy one of those dogs! Does any one know of any stores other then wandering monkey? (Wanderingmonkey isn't working?!) It has to be the same dog in that youtube video.

QUESTION:
Why do dogs hate Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape"?
I have watched at least 10 videos on youtube showing all kinds of dogs barking, whining, howling, and/or freaking out over the song "Sweet Escape".
Some seem like they LOVE it. They howl to the beat. But some act like they can't STAND it. They bark viciously and/or whine or freak out like they hate it.
Why? Do they love it or hate it? Is there some noise in it that people can't hear? This is a weird mystery...
I just now played it for my two Huskies, who normally bark a LOT. It didn't faze them a bit.... They totally ignored it, except one of them perked her ears every now and then.-

I watched it this morning and I don't really understand what it's about.
It shows a dog barking....cheerleaders dancing and burning guitars. Is there a hidden message somewhere because something about the burning instruments that made me wonder if there's like...something they wanted to convey. What is the music video about?

ANSWER:
It's just a music video. Not all of them need to have messages and symbolizm.
Personally I think it's just with the stuff they like and that dog is possibly Alexis' or Derek's dog. Y'know, putting their dog in the video like what Lady Gaga does.
oh and about what the user, Mother, said, I doubt it is shaped like a cross. I just watched the video two days ago. It's not. And it would be stupid. -__-;;

QUESTION:
Neighbour taking videos of my animals and possibly family? What right does he have?
My neighbour is taking videos and pictures of my dogs, yard, house, car and not exactly sure of what else. He could be taking these of me, and/or my family. He has posted a video (on youtube) of my dogs barking at him, while he stands at the connecting fence, with the camera in their face.
He has taken videos of other people on the street too - so this is bothering not just us but others on the street. Curious what rights do I have? We are worried about going outside our house, even to pick our nose (LOL). I think this is an invasion of our privacy and not sure if there is anything we can do about it.... what are your thoughts?-

QUESTION:
My good friend screams and makes her dogs bark to entertain herself?
I am a little bit worried about my friend, who is 21. She enjoys screaming to make herself laugh. She says she has liked it ever since she was a child and records herself screaming into a microphone and plays it back. It is not limited to herself, she enjoys hearing others scream. She also finds loud animal noises funny so at times she will occasionally make her dogs bark and purpose while dancing to get them going. She likes the farm for when the animals all start going off. She otherwise appears to be 100% normal and functional. She is in college with me and has a job and many people like her. She just has this quirky thing she finds funny. She likes this youtube video very much, kind of gives and example of what she likes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1fN42svKbw
What is wrong with her?
I think I'm wondering if it is some type of sensory issue or possibly anxiety? Or is she just quirky? Its something you would have to witness to fully appreciate

Nothing is wrong with her. Just because you think she's weird doesn't mean she is. She's just different and there is nothing wrong with it. I thought this video was funny.EDIT-Well judging from what you said, she likes being herself.

ANSWER:
First of all, you need to be consistent. Even the best methods will fail you can't be ruthlessly consistent, and since you've been jumping around methods like crazy, you clearly haven't been very consistent. So, choose a method and stick with it. Assuming you choose the right method (which I'll get into more in a moment), you should know that before it takes effect, his behavior is likely to get worse. That's called the "extinction burst," and you mustn't give in during this period. You can read a great little description of extinction bursts on this page:
http://k9deb.com/nilif.htmNow, you don't really describe what he's doing, so I'll kinda try to piece it together. So, what, he pulls on the leash? Okay, then think about why he's pulling: he wants to go forward. Right? Right. Therefore, an efficient way to discourage the behavior would be to never allow him to go forward if he's pulling. The second he begins pulling, you need to immediately stop dead in your tracks, or turn in the other direction and walk that way. (Try to stick with doing one or the other. I personally prefer stopping dead over turning and going in the other direction, but it's all about preference, I guess.) Do this every single time he hits the end of the leash! If you choose to stop in your tracks, he should eventually pause in his pulling to wonder what's going on; when he does, praise him, call him back, reward him, and keep walking. (And if he goes right back to pulling, then just stop again. The first several times especially, you might have to stop a hundred times!) If a lot of time has passed and he isn't pausing in his pulling, try to get his attention. Make a point of rewarding him very heavily (praise, delicious tiny treats like chicken, hot dog or cheese, etc.) every time he's doing something right. Whenever he isn't pulling, reward him by walking forward and giving him treats and whatnot. If he's by your side, give him tons of treats! Basically, you want to teach him that when he pulls, he does not get anything that he wants (walking forward, treats, praise, etc.), and that when he doesn't pull, he gets tons of great stuff (walking forward, treats, praise, etc.).
Don't bother with "training collars." There is simply no need to use a choke chain, shock collar, etc. If you choose to inflict pain or another unpleasant sensation on him to discourage pulling, then at least go with the prong collar, which is a much better choice than the other two (but still probably unnecessary). If you want to use a fancy tool, then I recommend the Easy Walk Harness, which makes it a bit harder to pull. It won't perform any miracles, but it will make it easier to restrain him when he does pull. I do not recommend using a head halter like the Gentle Leader because they require proper desensitization and I have a feeling that you'd end up using it like a crutch; you can't rely on the tool to do the training for you.
Be very careful when you try to punish him, if you do (which I don't particularly advise). It's very common for dogs to associate punishments for the wrong thing. For example, say he starts pulling on the leash and barking when he sees another dog. You spray him full in the face with water and yell at him. Did you discourage pulling? No, probably not, because he wasn't thinking about the fact that he was pulling. He was focused solely on the other dog, and thus most likely associated the negative stimuli (being sprayed with water, being screamed at, etc.) with what he was focused on (i.e., the other dog). So the next time he sees that dog, he's bound to freak out even more. Whereas his barking the first time was just frustrated excitement and enthusiasm, he'll just get more and more honestly aggressive toward the other dog because he wants that dog to stay the hell away because he thinks that very bad things happen whenever the dog is near. (I'm not necessarily saying that this is exactly what might happen, but it's a good example of what might happen. It happens terribly often.)
If he's biting in play, then think about how two dogs might behave in play. If Fido bites Rover too roughly while they're wrestling, then Rover will yelp and stalk off to lick his "wound." Fido is left lonely and bored, and he thus learns to inhibit the force of his bite because he doesn't want the fun and games to end. So, every time his teeth touch your skin, *instantly* shriek or yelp "OUCH!" and immediately end the game. Immediately stand up, cross your arms and stalk right out of the room. Do not return for at least several minutes. When you return, greet him calmly, but do not resume play for awhile. Here are two articles that should help further:
http://dogstardaily.com/training/puppy-biting
http://dogstardaily.com/training/teaching-bite-inhibitionIf he's biting for another reason, then you'll have to specify. I mean, does he bite you when you try to take stuff from him? That's called resource guarding. Does he bite you when you hold him or restrain him? That requires desensitization. So on and so forth. All of these problems require much different treatment than play biting.
It sounds like he hasn't been properly socialized. You should have been socializing him extensively throughout his life, so by now, other dogs should be no big deal because he should have interacted with so many of them. So, socialize him. He needs to interact with tons and tons of dogs on a regular basis. Enroll him social training classes! Enlist anyone you know with a dog to help you socialize your dog! If you can do this, try modifying this method:
http://www.mastiffonlinecommunity.net/viewtopic.php?t=85
Instead of having him tied to an immovable object, you'll have him on the leash with you. Instead of only working with a person, you'll have that other person have a dog with him or her. Every time your dog reacts, stand there and wait until he stops. (It might take a very long time at first, and he might even throw some tantrums. Just ignore it and wait for him to quit it.) Then walk forward. He'll eventually catch on; since he wants to go to the other dog, he'll be discouraged from barking because when he does, he doesn't get to go forward like he wants to. You should also try using this method to teach him to walk well with other dogs:
http://www.mastiffonlinecommunity.net/viewtopic.php?t=86
I also highly recommend the book "Feisty Fido" by Patricia McConnell, which is about dogs who are reactive on the leash. Oh, and "My Dog Pulls, What Do I Do?" by Turid Rugaas.A few more articles I think might be helpful:
http://www.clickertraining.com/node/208
http://www.clickertraining.com/node/1721
http://www.clickertraining.com/node/216
(If it prompts you to join the site in order to read the articles, just do it, joining's free.)Finally, all of the breeds in your mix are high energy. You need to exercise him like CRAZY! You can understand that he's chock full of frustration and pent-up energy on the walk, right? Because until he's trained to walk well, the walk is barely exercise. You have to drain the energy before the walk. Run around like a loon with him! Play fetch! Play soccer! Go hiking! Go swimming! Just drain that energy.

QUESTION:
Is your dog interested in mirrors?
I've seen a lot of videos on youtube of dogs going crazy when they see mirrors because they think it's another dog. They attack it, bark loudly, or run and hide. I have a maltese and he seems totally disinterested with mirrors. He looks at them, sees his reflection, then just turns his head or walks away. He could care less about them. Is that normal? What does your dog do when he/she sees a mirror?-
ANSWER:
It's normal for puppies or dogs that haven't seen mirrors before or that um...don't learn as quickly to be interested but most figure out pretty quickly that there is no other dog. Whether or not they recognize that it is themselves is debated with the whole "self awareness" argument. I think they just learn that there isn't a dog.My dogs ignore them unless they kind of see it out of the corner of their eye, just noticing movement probably, and turn to look at it briefly and go "oh yeah, no dog there".

QUESTION:
why do videos on my macbooks "photobooth" no play properly on youtube?
i recorded my dog barking and my cousin dancing on my macbook web cam, on photobooth, and uploaded them to youtube. but on the dog barking the audio was WAY off, and the dance my cousin did for about 45 seconds was crammed into 16 seconds and he was dancing at a SUPER fast speed, why are my videos not uploading properly>!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!-
ANSWER:
Despite Youtube stating that .mov movie file formats are supported for upload, I've had problems with them before as well, much the same problems you are having. I convert the video into another format that seems to be better supported.Photobooth saves movie files as a .mov file type, and something like a mpeg 4 seems to work better. You can find easy to use, free software to convert videos on the internet. I use a program called "Handbrake". Works well for me.
So, you convert the video into an mpeg4 format, for example, and then proceed to upload that to youtube, once you've checked and made sure the converted video's audio is synced properly and the video is playing normally, so on. Good luck.

Okay my dog has always barks at the mail truck when it comes by my house. Every day for as long as I can remember and he's 14 years old. Recently I put a video up of him doing just that for people I know to see. Many of them said "no he just wanted to play with/chase the mail truck and that his barking was excitement, not anger". Is YouTube safe for a 13-year-old?
I'm really mature for my age (I'd say I'm at the maturity level of maybe a 17-18-year-old). I know not to talk to creepos, watch X-rated stuff, post personal info, or otherwise do stuff my parents would disapprove of. I would mainly be on there to have fun watching/rating/commenting on videos. The videos I uploaded would probably just be funny videos like my dog barking at her own reflection, none of me.I already have Facebook, and I think I'm quite responsible with that. My parents know my password; they check my account a few times a week to make sure I'm staying out of trouble. I have my dad and grandma on my friends list (I'd have my mom, too, but she doesn't have FB). All my friends are people I know in real life, and I always reject requests from strangers.
So, yeah...do you think it's okay for me to have a YouTube account?
I'd use the same password as the Facebook one.-

Difference between barking and baying?
Alright, so I'm trying to explain to someone the difference between barking and baying. I know the difference, but I need a thorough explanation to show him that's simplified without needing in-depth knowledge or experience with dogs. The videos I'm sending him from Youtube aren't cutting it (although the difference is obvious to me), so what's an easier way of explaining the difference to someone? This came up because I said I want to get a Coonhound at some point (after graduation).

I agree; a bark is a very short, abrupt, sharp, rough sound coming from the dog whereas baying is more like a bark that is extended into a short howl.

QUESTION:
My dog annoying???
I was walking my beagle around the park the other day, and this middle aged woman, actually stopped me and asked me what kind of dog I have and I said beagle, she looked at me with all seriousness and said "that is one ugly beagle" later on we kept walking and Honey (my dog) barked at another dog, and we kept going and as I was leaving getting in my car the woman came over to and said her bark was terrible, saying she worked at the SPCA and she has never seen or heard a beagle like mine. This really hurt my feelings, I love my dog and want the best for her. I find out that this woman works at my SPCA do I go confront her for my dog and I, because I'm starting a internship there in Febuary. Or do I let it go and just figure she is ignorant and arogant? Below I posted a youtube video of my dog if anyone would like to see.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWTMvBbrB5Y
Happy New Year!
For Lexi and tiff, I could care less if people look at my youtube account. I put it there because I want people's oppinions on my dog because I love her very much. Maybe next time I won't post a video link or picture and let people be totally clueless, no offence but you sound just as rude as the woman that judged my dog.-
ANSWER:
Next time that rude woman tells you something is wrong with your dog, tell her you love your dog and think she's beautiful, and she can stick that in her dang juicebox and suck it. I think your dog looks fine, maybe next time she says your dog is one ugly beagle, you should tell her she's one ugly woman.

how can you make your dog to BARK whenever you want them to bark?
i saw this video in youtube and i want to try it!!!

ANSWER:
I taught my dogs by saying "speak" then getting them to bark, whenever they would bark I'd click my clicker and give them a treat. After a while they understand, it may take longer for certain breeds.

Topic for today: Dog Leash
What kind of leash do you use on your dogs?
Retractable?
Just a plain leash?
What brand is your leash? How long is yours? Long ones for a specific place and time? Short ones for a specific time and place?
Share any tips and knowledge you have!"Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies,
quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love
and always have to mix love and hate."- Sigmund Freud
Have a Happy Howl-o-ween
-
ANSWER:
No retractable leashes - they don't allow good control of the dog and they can break. I think they are a bad idea.We use 4-6 foot long heavy nylon leashes. One dog uses a Halti because though he walks nicely on a leash 90% of the time he sometimes startles at things and he is very large and can hurt me if he pulls when he freaks at something. The other uses a regular nylon collar. She heels nicely and doesn't startle like our other dog.

QUESTION:
My Dog Has SEVERE Seperation Anxiety VIDEO URL INCLUDED!!?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3BswAXZC6s&feature=player_profilepageThe video above is a video of my dog Silvia having one of her freak outs that goes on every time we leave. We have tried all methods of training, Cesar Millan, Victoria Stilwell and many more, we have worked hard on all diffrent types of training methods nothing works. Please notice that in the video we IGNORE her when we come back. We've owned many dogs in our life so we know how to train but Silvia's Case is so severe nothing works. She eats off the counter, poops on the floor sometimes, attacks us when we show any signs of leaving, and She barks NON STOP the whole time we are gone. HELP ME.. I can't live like this anymore. What should we do?
-
ANSWER:
If you can honestly say that you patiently tried every method, it may be a good idea to go to the vet and ask about anti-anxiety medicine for her. My friend's dog needs it for the same reason and while it hasn't completely cured the separation anxiety, it has helped.Other than that, try crate training her. Once a dog starts to see their crate as their "safe place", they'll feel secure in it and won't be so anxious. So get a big crate. Start feeding her meals inside it and throwing toys and treats into it often during the day so she'll associate it with positive things. Put her in it at night too - and if she barks or cries while she's in there, it is very important to completely ignore her; if you let her out, she'll learn that barking and whining get her what she wants. So get some earplugs and leave her. Also, if you go to let her out of it and she starts barking or crying, ignore her and leave her there until she's quiet. Sounds cruel, but it's very important. Eventually she will settle down and willingly go in the crate.
When you leave the house, throw a Kong toy filled with frozen plain yogurt and treats into the crate. Once she goes in, lock the crate and leave without making a fuss. Don't say goodbye to her or anything like that, just leave.
Also, work with her by gradually increasing the time that she's alone and by changing your routine to leave. She knows that before you leave, you put your coat and shoes on. So a few times a day, put on your coat and shoes and just sit down on the couch and turn on the TV, go on the computer, whatever, just don't leave. That way she won't get anxious when she sees you doing it.
Put her in her crate, then leave the room. Wait outside for a few seconds - if she's barking, stay outside until she's quiet; if she's not barking, go back in. Then repeat about 10 times. Now increase the time to thirty seconds, again staying outside if she's barking and coming back in when she's quiet. Do that a few times, then increase the time to one minute, then two, then three, etc. until you can leave her alone for five minutes without barking. That doesn't sound like much, but it'll certainly be a big improvement from where she is now. Do this a few times a day.
One thing I noticed in the video is that you come back into the house while she is barking. All you're doing is reinforcing the barking; in her mind, barking gets you to come back in. If you come home and hear her barking, wait outside the door until she is completely quiet. Then come back in and ignore her - don't look at her, talk to her, or pet her - until she calms down.
Good luck and HTH!

QUESTION:
Remote collar? (opinions) (thoughts) (sucess stories)?
Some people find them cruel and some people adore them. I've recently been looking into one for my 2 year old havanese. So here is my situation. When I got her she was awesome off leash , then she got more independent. Not a good thing. So she listens in the house to basic commands like sit, stay , laydown and hight five but when we are outside on a leash she barks and people, dogs, everything! When there are no distractions outside she will sit on a leash but that's about it. The second I take the leash off she runs unless I have good treats like cheese or meat. I saw numerous videos on YouTube of dogs off leash with a remote collar and it really seems to work even after you take the collar off . And I am not talking about the " shock collars" I'm talking about simulation and vibration. Opinions?
Oh and if you don't know what a havanese is it is small about 8- 15 pounds. Mine is 11 , fairly common size. Thanks!

ANSWER:
theres always a better way then a remote collar remote collars usually make it worst because the shock not only physically hurts them but emotionally too

QUESTION:
How can I teach my dog to skateboard?
Alright, so this is actually a serious question
How could I teach my dog to skateboard, to actually put his feet on the deck and move it forwards? At the moment he has a little problem where all he does is bark at the wheels!Probably a complicated trick to learn, but if you look at a couple of youtube videos, it has been done
Any ideas on how this may be achieved?-
ANSWER:
Sure, it is easy to do....First put on your helmet and knee pads and elbow pads and some serious rump pads,
Then, you get on the skateboard and tell Loki to watch, watch mommie fall now, but the only part you want to learn Loki are the parts where I stay on the board......LOL
No, really a neighbor taught their sheltie to do it, it took him about 2 weeks to get the dog use to it.
Get someone to help you, you first want someone that can skateboard well, tee hee..joking
then you put Loki on a leash and walk beside them really slow making sure that Loki does not get near the wheels...Then, you talk to him, soothing talk, okay let's go boy, let's go, now this is what my neighbor did for 4 days, then he got his sheltie to sit on the board, held her on, then scooted the board slow while holding her on....she wanted off at first, but then started staying on.
He then put the leash on her, sat her on the board, held her, while a friend pushed the board from the back, she started liking it, stayed on, then in a week, she was staying on by herself, did not have to be held on, but he still kept the leash on her for a few more days.
He then took off the leash, she got on the board by herself, he would put her left back leg offf the board and push the board, she would want to raise her leg, but then he would stop, put her leg back down, by the second day of puttng her leg down, she kept it down on her own..
Then she kept it up all the time, she would sit on it, push with her back leg to move it, he would let her go on the drive way only, never into the street...she would bark if he stopped her, she would want to go again.
Now, he holds the board, she gets on by herself, pushes of with her back leg and keeps the board going and she can go pretty fast now.......she is getting better and better.
He took her to the lake as well, and she can stand on a surf board, and she can stay on, she has great balance now........on both boards.
Good luck, be careful and do not bump your rump too much trying to teach Loki
Be careful.
Let me know how he does..I know as you are, he will be pro and on the circuit pretty fast....

QUESTION:
What to do with a baby gopher (as in the rodent)?
I think I have a baby gopher. After watching a youtube video labled 'baby Gopher,' I'm 90% sure. I don't know what to do with it though. I live in town. I don't mind weening it untill it can take care of it self. I have no Idea what it eats or needs. I found it cowering on my deck in the midle of the day just past the reach of my active basset hound leash. Who, by the way, was barking at it with her big dog bark relentlessly. I'm suprised the poor thing didn't have a heart attack an keal over right then and their. I don't know how it got on the deck in the first place. This week a baby gopher, last week I, again with the help of my basset, discovered a kitten has been living in my garage, what should I expect to find next week!?-
ANSWER:
First, try to get the advice of a local wild animal rescue if you do not have access to a vet. Otherwise, if you have the resources like time and money, consult a vet. I do not know what kind of diseases they carry and or what kinds of vaccinations they need. As for the next animals you might expect, possums, rabbits, badgers, and other small rodents.

QUESTION:
Need opinions on my pony for sale?
He's about 13 hands, 6 years old, POA / Welsh cross, white flecks and a sock on his right hind. Walk / trot, still polishing his canter, has great brakes. I've ridden him in a halter bareback, and jumped him 2'6. He's VERY calm, not phased by barking dogs, or other spooking horses and is great at new places. He can also leg yield, side pass, and do turns on the fore hand. He's in CA, we have him at k, but highly negotiable. Here's a video of him, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJn-vBbeSOY
Thanks guys.
Yes, I have owned him since he popped out of my first pony, and I have trained him by myself.Oh and he also lunges, trailers, and ties.
Yes he has been to a show and was great, he did intro a and b and both scores were above 65%, and at our next pony club meeting in 2 weeks a couple of our smaller riders are going to get on him for a little.
Haha thank you Meagan
horse lover, he loves doing any job, and he loves playing with toys, I was once trying to see if he could do games for our pony club so I picked up cones and he decided he would pick them up and carry them for me! haha. Yeah I would definitely do a lease, I love my pony.
Yes he has been to a show and he was great. We plan to take him to more upcoming shows. And we plan to have some of the junior riders in our pony club ride him a little bit.
Okay I will ask my mom to drop the price down a little on his ads. Usually when he takes odd distances it's because of me. When I first started jumping him I was trying to guide him through every step because I still wasn't sure how he would do. I recently jumped him and I decided to jump like a beginner, I basically sat there and he did all the work and he had it all figured out!-
ANSWER:
I too am going to agree with the other answers so far and say that 6k is a little high. I would ask 5k and be willing to consider offers of 4k and up. With the economy, horse prices have either sky-rocketed or dropped, depending on the horse, and for most youngsters, they've dropped. I'm currently looking to add a pony to my roster that's around the same age as yours that just needs some finishing up over the winter and then will do the A circuit hunters next season, and the ones I'm looking at are mostly between 8k and 10k, so a good deal of them are only 2k more than you're currently asking. That being said, I think he's really cute and that you've done a great job with him. He jumps from any distance and doesn't seem bothered. I think he'd be a fantastic pony for a kid who wants to show locally and/or do pony club. I'd trust him with my kid (if I had one). I think if you lower your price a little, you'll probably sell him in a flash, and I doubt you would have any trouble finding a lease.

ANSWER:
I grew up on a ranch where chores were done before dinner, and making sure all the animals were fed was part of doing the chores. The philosophy behind this was the animals depended on us for their food and we could get food for ourselves. Therefore we understood if we didn't do what we were supposed to and the animals went hungry then so did we.But do I put my dog before me, the answer is no. My needs come first because if my needs aren't fulfilled how will I be capable of taking care of my animals needs.
I give my dogs everything they need, but I need more because I am human and live for more than just love, attention, and food. So I would say that is why I give myself more.
I agree with the quote though, I don't trust anyone my dogs don't like, including my brother.

I've found theme songs like that of The Office on YouTube, then converted the file to mp3, but I can't find any video or even a link to the theme song. QUESTION:
Would you get your family a dog after reading this?
My dad said we were going to get an Icelandic Sheepdog and then he said no they are to loud (which isn't true if you train them, which we would do). So I wrote an essay. It's kinda long but I need to know if it is good enough. Thanks
I think you should get a dog for many reasons. I think the dog should be an Icelandic sheepdog. There are many reasons why you should get a dog for our house but i will state three major reasons. one, you were the one who brought up the idea in the first place. Two, having a dog can help us become more mature. Three, they are adorable.
Firstly, I would like to state that you brought up the idea of our family getting a dog. Mom did a lot of research and emailed a lot of people and even called people about Icelandic sheepdogs. Now, you are saying that they bark to much and will cause unnecessary noise. That is false because they will not if they are trained not too. The dog would only bark to tell us that the door bell rang and when it is running around outside because dogs naturally do that. The dog would help us with the door bell because it has a tendency to break and not be fixed for awhile.
Secondly, having a dog will help us mature as people. It will teach us responsibility. There are many ways that getting a dog can teach us to be responsible. We will have to train the dog which would be a responsibility. Training a dog will take time which will teach our family patience and that is something our family needs. Also one of us will have to walk the dog every day so that will teach us priority.
Thirdly, these dogs are adorable. You have to admit it, they are. Especially the ones that look like German Shepherds. Everyone is getting good grades in school so there is no reason getting a dog is a bad thing and it will definitely not effect our grades because we usually don't have any homework to do anyway. All the more reason to get a dog, because we will have time to take care of it and then there will be no time to play video games or watch stupid YouTube videos.
These are just some reason why our family should get a dog. Think about it. We all want a dog. We have all wanted a dog for awhile. Remember, you brought up the idea in the first place, having a dog can teach us maturity, and Icelandic sheep dogs are adorable.
I guess I'm a terrible writer. That carrier is definitely out. But I just wanted to make a point. Apparently I am not doing a very good job. I'm so sorry this is the 5th time he has brought it up and actually talked to people about getting a dog. It wasn't just a thought like "Wouldn't it be nice to get a dog." it was more like he emailed different websites to my mom and stuff. I am also so sorry I'm not good at randomly saying stuff and making up an essay in 5 minutes, ok? This lady my mom was talking to has this breed of dog and it doesn't bark besides the times i mentioned above. I guess that's because a therapy dog, but my mom kinda wanted to make the dog a therapy dog. I was just trying to sound believable. No need to be mean. I'm so sorry I'm 15 and write like a 10 year old.-
ANSWER:
you are not a terrible writer and if my child gave me that and i was already considering a getting a family dog, i would appreciate your effort ... you make good points and your thoughts are organized ... and i would get you a dog ... when i was growing up i would beg and beg for a dog, when my dad actually took steps towards buying a dog, i was silently optimistic ... and he did give in after it all and the entire family loved that dog for 17 years ... and don't let these negative nellies get you down, they are sad in their lives and just want others to feel sad too ... you keep after your dad and i am sure you will get a dog ...

Barking Dogs Video
Eric Anathema is a behaviorist who is always coping with people who grumble to him about canines that won't give up barking. "Barking can really be very irritating, there is no doubt of that," said Anathema.
Barking is all but normal in canines. Dogs aren't going to be who they are if they didn't bark. However, barking can really be incredibly irritating. This is especially true when weimaraners bark unremittingly at all times of the day. It can prevent you from having a great night's sleep. Worse, it could also guard your neighbors up and miserable and when your neighbors are miserable, they will whine. So, is there something you can do to restrain your pet dogs quite?
One of the first things that you have to do should be to find the reason how come your dog is barking. One of the most common motives for a dog barking uncontrollable is boredom. Do you think your dog is bored? Is it the lone pet in the home? Is it often left by itself at night? Does it get the exercise that it in fact needs? Do you spend adequate time playing with it? Do you leave your pet alone for extended periods of time? If you answered negatively to any of the above, there is a great chance that your pet may be bored.
The factors mentioned above may also cause aloneness in pet dogs and isolation is also a reason why they bark. Lonesomeness and boredom might also induce crying, digging, chewing inappropriate things, etc.

QUESTION:
What should I do about a neighbor harassing me about my dogs?
For the last 3 summers my neighbor has left anonymous notes on my front door about my dogs barking. After several video recordings and driving by our house with the car windows down we realized it was not our dogs. After our dog got sick, we took our dog trainers advice and started leaving them in the house when we aren't home. The neighbor is still leaving notes on our door about them barking even though they are inside. On the notes he complains about the barking and tells us what bad dog owners we are for leaving them home alone, our dogs are only left home alone 3 days a week from 7:30-12:00 and then from 1:00-4:00. My husband comes home for lunch to play with them and let them go potty. I feel the neighbor is cowardly for leaving anonymous notes and is trespassing onto our property to leave them. What should I do?
-
ANSWER:
get trespassing signs up ... that shows that if someone DOES in fact goes on your lawn you WILL call the cops .. cops advise people who intend on calling the cops on people who trespass they should have a sign otherwise the cops really cant do anything .. but anyways you should also make fun of your pathetic neighbors by getting signs or decorative lawn objects then say stuff like "This Is A Bark Free Zone" or something along those lines .. that way your neighbors know that you dont take them seriously .. i had to do this when I had my first dog .. she would constantly bark at everyone who came by and she would always cause trouble with dogs that wandered to our lawn ... but we didnt take it so seriously when our neighbors would call us and yell at us .. we made them feel sooo stupid when we put signs up like that .. trust me it works :]

QUESTION:
How to get neighbor's dogs to stop barking 24/7? Driving us insane!?
Has anyone ever had a situation where you neighbors dogs are very disruptive? Our neighbor has two "bird dogs" that wake us up at 6:30 every morning and disrupt the peace throughout the day and as late as 10-11 at night. We just built our dream home, and can't even enjoy the patio, outdoors, or doing yard work because the dogs bark non-stop. We ended up moving from our beautiful bedroom downstairs into the smaller guest bedroom upstairs just so we could sleep. We've complained but the they haven't done anything to resolve. By law in the state of Georgia, we have to have 1 hour of non-stop continuous barking on video to file a complaint in order to have the owners fined. But even if we did that, its not like the dogs will stop barking and they aren't going to get rid of them. We've considered getting one of those anti-bark things but haven't found reviews on any that work that well. I am so angry because I feel like we can't even have a life! Help.
We have spoken to them on numerous occasions. The husband is a P**** about it and gets defensive, and the wife just backs him up but is nice about it. We've even done favors for them in the past, unrelated to this. You would think they would be reasonable, but they are not which is why I feel so trapped.-
ANSWER:
Its a shame that the law is almost getting in the way of your efforts to rectify the issue. I would definitely write a letter of complaint to the council/state officials explaining your situation and that its not about it being an hour constantly. I find it insulting that it has to be non stop. Surely they realise that barks for 5 mins every 15 is far more annoying?!I would approach the neighbours and explain your situation calmly and considerately. Hide a phone in your pocket that is able to record sound, so that you can use it as evidence should things go wrong. It is not unreasonable that you should be able to ask your neighbour to investigate options of perhaps moving the location of the dog's shelter or area where they spend most of their time, away from your side.
Having worked at kennels in the past, there is not much at all you can do to stop lots of dogs barking when they are excited. Its a tricky situation, but to respect the neighbours, most places that keep a number of dogs (especially hunting dogs) will have them in a sound proofed kennels to prevent excessive noise.
I am not sure about the Anti-Bark things that you are talking about, but most anti-bark devices i know about, usually involve the animal wearing a special collar. This would be unlawful if you were to place something on another persons dog, so I can only assume this is not what you are thinking of doing!
Best of luck, because it is an unenviable situation and I hope you are able to resolve it soon.

QUESTION:
What would you do about a bad neighbor that lets his dogs bark.?
I live in a beautiful rural area in Oregon. I am in the county but only a short distance to town. For three years I have suffered because of a neighbor that lets his dogs bark all day and night. It has made me a sick man. I am 65 years old, retired after working 50 years with a small retirement.
He is a man in his 30's, living with a woman also with dogs.
He is not working, trying to get on a disability. So he is home all day and night. He chain saws all day saturday and sunday.
I have contacted animal control so many times, and he has been warned and warned, but this last week the duputy came to my home, and said he would take steps. He did, and gave them a citation. They can and probably will take me to court to disprove my allegations. I have video of the dogs in my yard, and also barking. Today , the day after they were given the citation, they have been angry, and making noise and letting their dogs run free in my yard. What would you do ?-
ANSWER:
I feel for you. I lived at one house for 19 years. the last 5 were made hell by a bad neighbor with barking and vicious dogs. I asked nicely to no avail. I called the police. They would just ask them to make the dog quiet. Then the animosity escalated with each action. It got so bad I was uncomfortable in my own yard. They were such lowlife. They rode motorcycles in their yard until it became a track. They cut through my yard with snowmobiles and had so many cars they parked them in the front yard grass. They seldom worked and also were trying to get on disability. I knew they wouldn't be moving. How did I solve it? I moved three years ago. No mater how much I loved that house it was no longer a home.
Note to Jcsas: I love dogs, I had dogs (died of old age). I was a RESPONSIBLE owner. All dogs bark once in a while but it is up to the owner to make sure they are not a nuisance.

well in two weeks were going to the beach and last year when i first took her (she was about 1-3 months old i forgot) she wast comfortable with the other dogs and i couldn't go in the water as much as i do since she was barking and i had to control her (my dad was holding her on her leash) i bought a video this guy calls himself "The Dog Father" i got it for christmas because i asked my dad for it and when i watched the video some parts helped me like sitting laying down and not begging for food which was great! but the barking issue still isn't cured im embarrassed all the time because my dog barks and sometimes she even gets in control when we go on walks and its like shes walking me to wherever she wants to go i want her to be a happy dog last week when i went to the beach ( i didn't take her) i saw this black Labrador he looked like the happiest dog in the world him and his owners were playing fetch he was off leash and he looked so happy and wasn't barking or chasing any other dogs my dogs problem is that she barks at dogs (and cats) and she always want to go greet the other dog but in a harsh way like chasing at them i want my dog to be like that any training method will work just please help me! Sorry this description is so long ):
oh and she is fixed
by the way she is 1 year and 3 months old and she is a German Shepherd Mix-
ANSWER:
you can teach her to "be quiet" but im guessing you've tried the "quiet" command.if you have the way we got my dog to stop barking at the back door was when she barked spray her face with a spray bottle filled with water. just use mist. dogs don't like having water on their face but it does no harm to them. she stopped barking after a couple of weeks.
but you would probably have to carry a spray bottle around with her the whole time so this might be inconvenient.
we were told by a dog trainer to do this, so its not dangerous to them in anyway.

QUESTION:
My neighbor is a jerk and has a video camera on the corner of his house taping us.?
It is creepy! Is it legal in Pennsylvania to tape someone elses house and yard?? They are trying to cause trouble. We don't have barking dogs or garbage in my yard.-
ANSWER:
Unfortunately, when you are out in public, you have no expectation of privacy. It is legal for you to be taped in your backyard as well, and this has been done by police helicopters, for instance, when they are searching for marijuana plants in suspects' backyards.I would say you should put on shows for the camera also, but make sure you do not do anything illegal (i.e. flashing, setting somehing on fire, etc.). Seems like a no brainer, but my first thought would be to go hang a BA out there for his viewing pleasure, but that would just give them evidence of indecent exposure ON TAPE. Kinda hard to dispute in court. Have fun with it, but don't get crazy.
Maybe wash your car or mow the lawn in a gorilla suit? Use a hula-hoop or make a sign that says "YOU SUCK" on it (avoid profanity, because you just don't need that kind of trouble) and put the sign where it will be constantly on their film. Change it daily to something new and interesting. It's a great way to share your political views too, especially if they differ from your neighbors.'
Better yet, set up YOUR OWN camera and videotape your neighbor. See? Two can play THAT game.

QUESTION:
Whats that video of a small dog getting a running start on some wood floor?
A while ago, I saw a video of a small dog being held and barking at someone and trying to get at them. The person then put the dog down on some wood floor and instead of running, the dog went backwards, and then forwards and chase after the person. I think I saw it on AFV, but I cant seem to find it anywhere. Any help?-
ANSWER:
Sounds like my dogs. We have laminate flooring. Our dogs kind of run in place for a couple of seconds before they get going, and if they try to stop, they do a slide half way across the room. Sometimes they do a 180 during a slide, it's pretty funny actually.

QUESTION:
Are there treadmills for indoor cats?
I have an idea for an invention, but need someone with technical expertise....I have my doubts if a cat would trot along like dogs do on a teadmill...perhaps a video of a barking dog would motivate the cat, but how would you control the speed of the treadmill.-
ANSWER:
Hi there...cats will walk on a treadmill or an exercise wheel if you let them walk at their pace rather than control the speed. So if you could design the main walkway to free-turn on the cats own power that would be the best. Additionally, food is the ideal motivator (primary reinforcement) to get any feline to do just about everything. I've included a link below to show an cat walking on their exercise wheel receiving an occasional treat by their own merit. These wheels are available worldwide for purchase, however can be a bit spendy so it would be nice to find a more affordable alternative.

QUESTION:
Prove Dog Barking?
I wrote our neighbor 3 times and talked with him. They don't care, that we have to suffer because of their daily barking torture. They also insulted and threatened me. I have to write a letter to animal control and explain them what I tried and how badly they acted. Their dogs barked for a few hours, of course with a few minutes break. After 3 hours barking, I took my video camera and filmed them over the wall into the back yard for 10 minutes. In our city more than 5 minutes barking is illegal. While they barked, they looked into the camera. When you see the video it seems, that is my fault that they bark. But it is not, they barked for hours before I filmed them and they barked after I went into my house. They can always say I made them bark. So I might burn just the barking sound on a CD.
Is a sound recording good enough to prove the problem?
What should I do, if animal control does nothing, write and complaint to the Governor?
-
ANSWER:
You can file a private law suit to abate a nuisance. Dog barking in violation of local law is generally considered a nuisance. Make several recordings & log the time & date of each recording & from where it was made. See if you can get some other neighbors to agree to testify. Also invite some friends to act as independent witnesses to come to your hosue while you make the recordings on at least some of the occasions. They will have to appear in court -- so they'd better be good friends. The more recordings the better.

QUESTION:
Neighbors are harassing me about my dogs?
Long story short-I rescued an abused pitbull, he's a real sweetheart. He and my other dog get along very well, but he's really protective. He used to bark a lot but I've worked really hard to keep them quiet (really, REALLY hard), and now they barely bark at all. For some reason my neighbor is out to get them. He's called animal control several times about my dogs barking (even though it's my other neighbor's dog that barks all the time). He knows it's not my dogs barking but he doesn't care. I recently went outside to see why my dog was frantically barking and it was because my jerkoff neighbor was videotaping him through my fence, pressed right up against it and kind of kicking it with his foot, you know, to make my dog bark more. So my question is...I think he's going to take legal action...can he do that? I mean I know he can but what can I do? I've been super polite all the time to him about this and I've done everything in my power to keep them quiet. They don't bark now. I don't know what more he wants from me but apparently my dogs being quiet isn't good enough for him. I mean it's not even a legitimate video...he made my dog bark on purpose! What dog wouldn't bark at some creep taping them through the fence? And he's such a hypocrite, his dog barks every morning at 5 a.m. I want to file a complaint about HIM but I'm afraid of this going too far out of hand, like they'll think I'm taking revenge or something by complaining about him. Can I call someone to complain about him for harassing me? He can't have my dogs taken away from me can he??-
ANSWER:
Holy crap!
Try to get some evidence that his dog is the one doing all the barking. Also, tell him if he continues to harass you that you are calling the cops on him.
If he comes near your dog again, call the police. Even the nicest well behaved dog won't take being kicked very long.It sounds like he doesn't like the fact that your dog is a Pit, not the barking thing.

QUESTION:
Is it illegal to film a neighbors backyard from your backyard?
We have received a citation for dog barking. One of our neighbors 2 houses down has called in many complains about our dog whom only barks at her. She supposedly has a 9 minute video of the dog barking. She could see him from her back yard because the dog stands on our pool slide. I just want to know if it is illegal for her to use that on our hearing? i live in Arizona in Pinal county.-
ANSWER:
It would completely legal for her to use the video recording as it's evidence to validate her complaint. Assuming she didn't trespass into your yard to get the footage, it's also been legally obtained.Since she lives two houses down, what do your neighbors close to you have to say? If they're not bothered by the dogs I may benefit you to have them attend your hearing and testify to that.

QUESTION:
How can I make my dog bark?
I got her from a rescue shelter and had her for 6 months now. She is a 7 year old golden retriever and is clueless. I got her to give me her paw and sit down so far and that is about it. So far I have tried having some one ring the doorbell and told her to speak and barked, trying to get her to. I have tried a looping cd just of dogs barking. I let her around other dogs and chase animals like ducks and birds...still nothing. If I play aggressively she will bark, but then gets upset like she knows shes done something wrong, and I don't want to teach her that way anyways. I don't know what else to do. I even loaded up videos of dogs barking on tv and still nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions?-

QUESTION:
Steps I need to take in order to sue neighbors in court for barking dog?
I have had it with my neighbors dogs. She lets them bark all day and all night. Literally...Ever since we moved in to this place (about 4 months ago) my toddler has been getting woke up all night from the constant barking. She claims she tries to keep him quiet as she laughed about it to us one day when we said our baby was having a hard time sleeping. Her exact words were (with a laugh) "I hope he isn't too loud barking. I try to keep him quiet." and she went into her place laughing at us. The guy right across from us has 2 dogs and they bark non stop too, but the one dog chewed himself off his zip line cord and is now missing... thank GOD! Around here it's SSS and I think that's what someone did. I live out in the country and their are no noise ordinances in my county, but I should still be able to take her to court I would think for suffering. I am an animal lover, but leaving your dog out to bark constantly doesn't cut it for me...especially since I have a baby involved. It's gotten so bad that my toddler doesn't even want to go in her room anymore and screams so bad bc she is scared of the dog next door. What do I need in order to take her to court? What proof of the dog barking. Should I sit down and write a log every day from what time to what time its barking? Do I need an actual video recording? Do I need bills from doctors where I took her bc she wasn't sleeping? I want to make sure I have everything in order. I do know one thing I need to do is send a letter in the mail, but what should it say? Any help I would appreciate.
Thanks, I have medical proof. I actually had taken her to a doctor to get help from her not sleeping and crying so much to see what I can do to help her sleep bc of the dogs. The doctor there couldn't help me so we left to find a different doctor and they called CPS on me saying we refused treatment....well, if the doctor can't help we were not wasting our money there. So the CPS lady came out to my house and we explained she hasn't been able to sleep because of the dogs barking so much and the sheriff that came out with her even agreed that he's had problems with that dog (and that lady - she is a pill popper) but since the dog is contained in the yard nothing he could do. The CPS lady made us go out to the hospital to get her checked out and we have no insurance so that cost over 400 bucks. The hospital report said she was healthy and fine. I'm just pissed I'm having so many problems now bc of these dogs and my little girl. We are all stressed from the constant barking and her const-

A lawsuit would be very expensive and all you need to do is contact Code enforcement and sign Nuisance ordinance violation complaints against the neighbors, even rural counties have nuisance ordinances and they will either stop the barking or spend thousands in fines.~~

Now, too many parents are complaining that this video is teaching kids to scare dogs. I am just telling them that dogs are animals, and are wolves. And wolves attack stuff.-
ANSWER:
How does showing a video on vicious dogs aid in the curriculum? If you ask yourself that question I'm pretty sure that you will not be able to come up with a good answer. Unless there has been an outbreak of random dog attacks in the neighborhood or something, you should teach children to love and care for animals. Dogs are domesticated (wolves are wild) animals, and there actions directly reflect the owner's method of training or lack thereof. That's why the federal government holds owners responsible for dog attacks. Stop showing what sounds like a vicious dog propaganda video to the children, and the parents won't complain. Sadly if they're all complaining your job might be toast alreadyEdit: Should of read the other comments first

QUESTION:
Is it legal to tape the neighbor's nuisance dog?
I have 15 neighbors with nuisance barking dogs. I'm trying to gather evidence of the problem with my video camera. It's not for legal means (I'm not going to submit it to a court as evidence). I just want to be able to document the problem and show that I'm not crazy (that there ARE barking dogs). Some dogs are in front yards and are easy to see from the street, but others are more difficult to find.
Is it legal to aim my camera over my neighbor's fence from my property to tape their dog? Is it legal to aim a camera over a fence from the sidewalk to tape a dog?
Is it legal to walk into a driveway and aim a videocamera over a fence to tape a dog?
I can hold the camera up high and peek at the LCD display. I'm not taping any humans or windows to houses, just barking dogs.
I know dogs have no expectation of privacy, buy I'd like to know the legality of my project.
-
ANSWER:
First off - most of the recording privacy laws
surround audio, not video. You could videotape
your neighbors having sex as long as you didn't
publish it (without their permission). You might be violating peeping-tom laws, but
not any wiretapping laws.So ... you can video your neighbors dogs all you
want. However, that's not that interesting to the court
since you're talking about noise abatement. However, there is NO expectation of privacy on
your neighbors lawn in earshot of the next door
neighbors. That is, if you can hear it in your
yard, the dogs (even if they had rights) would have
no expectation of privacy. Now, (again, assuming the dogs have rights of
privacy, which they don't) - if you take "extraordinary
means" (such as a eavesdropping microphone), then
wiretapping laws might apply. However, what happens in the neighbor's yard
is essentially "in public" - and the dogs (and neighbors)
have no right to sue.

QUESTION:
Can we do something to stop a neighbor from harassing us about our barking dog?
Our neighbor constantly complains about our dog. He says it barks too much and has taken us to court. There are other dogs in the neighborhood including 3 dogs that surround his house yet he complains to us about our dog. He is always harassing us about the dog and telling us that there is a nuisance law and that we need to stop our dog from barking. I have looked up the nuisance law act and our dog only barks when there is a cat, an unknown person or another dog that is not of the neighborhood near our home. This man has even trained his kids to video tape our home. Is that legal? Is there anything we can do legally to stop him from continuing to harass us?-
ANSWER:
file harassment charges, and consult a lawyer NOW. get your dog into obedience classes and special training so you can control the "barking" whenever it occurs.
this will give you proof of training, and show a judge that you are working on the problem.does your dog live outside? i can tell you from experience it's annoying to have a neighbors dog barking constantly because they leave the poor thing outside all the time.
my 4 dogs can really get going if some loud truck drives down the street (trash truck). i let them in the house and quiet them.
my dogs are only let out 1 time for a potty break after 9pm out of respect for my neighbors, it's a ten minute break then they are in the house for the night.*you thumbs down happy ppl can kiss my @ss. there ARE some ppl that are insane about dogs barking, even when it's not excessive. they harass dog lovers just for the pure simple reason that they hate dogs.*

QUESTION:
Why is my dog so fascinated with my video games? Paper Mario in particular?
Not that I am complaining, since I love video games. I just think it is weird, since I have never had a dog that gets into games like mine does. She just stares at the screen watching my character move around and barks whenever a battle takes place, her tail wagging the whole time.Anyone else have a similar experience with their dog?
-
ANSWER:
Its cool, my pup does the same thing. But he's decided that animal shows dont interest him. He likes to watch bright flashy cartoons (jimmy neutron is one of his favorites) and anything with lots of action (his namesake movie Indiana Jones, he'll watch for hours). Its kinda cool because when I can't take him with me, I can put in a movie and he's like a little kid, doesnt even notice I'm gone.

QUESTION:
Do barking dog complaints usually win if they have to go to court?
Or are they usually thrown out by the judge? We have a new neigbor that just wont quiet her dog. I first talked to her and she was very defensive and called me a "psycho jerk" over the fence when I told her dogs to shut up. We next placed two letters on her door to no avail. I keeped the nasty letter she wrote back to us. My friendly neighbor says she is now going around the neiborhood telling lies about me that I am a mean person. We have animal control in charge of the case now with two letters sent to her. She still doesn't do anything. The dog doesn't bark all the time, only occasionally but wakes me up almost every morning which has forced me to sleep on the other side of the house. We have audio and video evidence to prove our case. Anything else I should do to end this?-
ANSWER:
It's a civil matter and you're doing all the right things, I know how you feel and this is a REAL legal issue, it won't be thrown out. You have the right to "quiet enjoyment" of your property.
I would also research noise ordinances, go to your city engineer's office or the county code department, some department has these written up. Read up on them and you'll see exactly what rights are being violated. I would also speak with neighbors in the area to see if any others are having the same problem and see if they'll help you.
The issue in civil cases is usually "the preponderance of evidence" in other words "whoever has the most evidence wins". So show up with as much to back up your claims as you can, and you should win. I don't know what the order will be but it should be some sort of solution. You shouldn't have to move because your neighbor is selfish, this is a rational concern and one a judge should understand and help with.
Good Luck and Good for You!Notice BECKA and Meow and Ashton and perhaps others above are one of these obnoxious neighbors we've all had !!! lol. "it's not my fault, I can't help it...it's a dumb animal..." Imagine how she'll be as a mother! "I can't control him, he's got a mind of his own..."
She's wrong, you DON'T have the right to do things that infringe on the rights of others. If you want a noisy dog, you need to go buy a house in the country, it's your dog, it shouldn't become someone else's problem honey. Use your head, we all have rights (becka) not just you. Clearly the neighbor thinks like you do lol. Anyway, believe me, the judge will disagree with becka, only selfish people say "it is what it is, it cannot be helped" the judge will help you.

QUESTION:
Make a pack of dogs bark more?
My friends neighbor has around 7-8 jack russell terriers, one of which is blind. If the blind one starts barking for no reason, the rest go nuts and start barking also. I'm told that one of them has seizures which cause the others to bark as well. When anyone walks out the back door, if one of the idiot dogs is in the area, it goes crazy and then the rest of them run out and join in. At that point we're screwed, because by the time the barking dies down, the blind one has made its way out and starts barking, so the rest of them go nuts again. The father goes to bed at around 10pm, so if I ever have friends over and we are in the back yard, being quiet, the dogs stay at the fence barking, and the mother yells at us to keep the noise down. I have a video of us just walking outside, being really quiet, the dogs going nuts, and her yelling at us. It's really sad.I've asked my friend to talk to the owners about it, but he said they get all bent out of shape and say the dogs have as much rights as anyone. I've asked my friend about perhaps calling animal control and he said that would be a bad idea as he's the closest neighbor and it would bring their wrath, and they look like some mean vengeful subhumans.
Poisoning them or do anything to cause them pain is out of the question as that would be a messed up thing to do. My buddy has tried setting his alarm at different times of the night, walking outside to alert the dogs, then disappearing back inside before the neighbors see him, but he said that even though it's funny to hear them screaming at the dogs, it does mess up his sleep.
So here is my idea. Make them bark even more, to the point to where even the owners get sick of it. Being small and thus partially brain dead, would an electronic dog whistle make them bark? I could put is on a random timer to go off throughout the night. Is there any device out there that makes these dumb dogs bark more so the neighbors will perhaps get those damn things some training?
Thanks.
-
ANSWER:
You can try an electronic dog whistle but that's just torturing the dogs, which isn't right. They're probably just barking because they're so under stimulated. As in they're bored.I would call animal control, its the best option and if they retaliate against your friend at all, go to the police too.
Or you can get an outdoor sonic bark deterrent, runs about in my area and should stop the barking. It sends out sonic sounds when the dogs bark and hurts they're ears

The music video is Computer graphics and the dog is running around and there are a bunch of clothes and bones on the street and a strange looking man gets the dog on a leash and the dog starts running and dragging the man through the street and it eventually finds some puppies in some trash cans and they bark at it and a dog catcher gets the dog and I think the music video ends. QUESTION:
My neighbours have complained about my dog barking?
I have had a letter from the council to say that my neighbours have complained about my dogs barking. Now I understand that people are entitled to their peace and quiet but in all honesty my dogs very rarely bark. They do not make a sound at all during the night, or when I am out ( yes I do know this as I have video taped them to make sure they don't bark). My sprocker does not bark at all ever and my cavvy occasionally barks if someone comes to the gate. Once he barks he is immediately told off and stops. We are responsible dog owners, we go to training classes every week with them and we have had no problems before like this. If my dogs were barking a lot then I could understand the reason for the complaint but in all honesty they do not so I really don't know what their problem is.
I have a feeling that they really do not like me and my family, they have made numerous complaints about all sorts of things, such as where we placed our bin bags once to even calling social services (once again without any good reason). They are making our lives a misery, it feels like I can't even go in my own garden without them complaining about it. Any advice?-

Barking Dogs Video Production
Selective breeding has led to our domestic dogs becoming sexually mature at an earlier age. In addition domestic bitches (except African breeds) have twice as many seasons as wild wolves. In this article I will outline a little about the physiology of pregnancy and false pregnancy (pseudocyesis), and ways in which we can help bitches with either true or false pregnancies.
The Oestrus Cycle: Bitches' seasons occur every 8-9 months. Initially there will be vulval swelling associated with a blood stained discharge. During this phase (proestrus) she will show an interest in males.
In the second phase, Oestrus, the vaginal discharge changes from blood-stained to straw coloured. Ovulation occurs, and the female is most fertile.
The next phase, dioestrus, is when the bitch is hormonally pregnant. The corpus luteum, formed at ovulation in the ovary, matures and produces female sex hormones. These in turn stimulate the secretion of prolactin from the anterior lobe of the pituitary, stimulating milk production in the mammary glands.
False pregnancy: The hormonal cycle of the bitch assumes that pregnancy has occurred after every cycle, whether or not a mating has taken place. She will therefore experience the physiological changes of pregnancy over the next 2 months. She will have an increase in progesterone production, milk production and an increase in appetite. She may even appear to go into labour.
The caregiver may notice physical and emotional changes, particularly 8-9 weeks after her last season. She may exhibit a change in preferred diet to blander food, fluid retention, and a wish not to take her usual amount of exercise, and she may hoard toys and treat them as puppies.
There may be restlessness, lack of appetite, panting, trembling, whining and nest-building at the time she would have given birth. She may be slightly more aggressive than usual. Things will usually return to normal after 2-3 weeks, equivalent to 48hrs after the birth would have occurred.
How we can help: As this is a physiological occurrence which settles over 2-3 weeks, treatment is rarely needed. If possible try to reduce stimulation of the mammary glands, by reducing stroking and wiping, and not allowing the bitch to lick excessively, as these will increase prolactin release and further milk production.
Occasionally the bitch may become ill, by producing excessive milk, or other problems. She may need treatment to reduce milk production, such as diuretics or hormone treatment. Although some advocate reduced fluid intake to induce dehydration and reduce milk production, others feel that this may be unsafe.
It is rare (but not unknown) for bitches who are spayed (ovariohysterectomised), to exhibit these changes. Although the majority of the hormones are being produced by the ovaries, some are produced in the adrenal glands.
Complementary Therapies: Pulsatilla, which can be bought from health food shops, can be helpful. It can also be used just after a season in a bitch with a history of false pregnancies.
Energy healing such as spiritual healing and Reiki can help the dog accept and work with its hormonal state, and help with self-healing. It can be supplemented with crystals such as chrysophase, moonstone and blue lace agate.
Aromatics that may prove useful include rose, fennel (to dry up lactation) and vanilla. Of the Bach flower remedies, vine, chicory, red chestnut & mustard may be helpful.
In this article, I have discussed the physiology of false pregnancy, and suggested ways in which we can help bitches to cope with the pressures involved. Surprisingly, spaying does not necessarily prevent recurrent false pregnancies. Fundamentally, false pregnancy is a natural occurrence in bitches, and usually needs no treatment.
Barking Dogs Sounds Need
We were burglarized and had ,000 worth of belongs stolen from our house. I decided to buy a dog that was a good watch dog who would bark of someone tried to break into our house again. We got a good watch dog but he barked at everything and everyone that passed by our house. I had to find a way to train him and stop him from barking all the time.
Foretunetely one night I saw the Bark Off commercial on TV. It looked and sounded like it was just what I needed but I wasn't sure if it would really work. I searched and found a great <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link/3137445']);" href="http://barkoffreviews.org">Bark Off review</a> site and decided to give it a try.
I ordered it online. I was delighted at how fast it came in the mail. After reading the user's manual and setting it up I was ready for my dog, Sparki, to start barking. I didn't have to wait long. Something caught his attention and he started to bark. When he did I picked up the Bark Off and pushed the button. His ears perked up, he looked around and immediately stopped barking. He looked confused as to what was making the sound. I didn't hear any sounds from the Bark Off.
A few seconds after he stopped barking I turned the <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link/3137445']);" href="http://barkoffreviews.org">Bark Off</a> off. It didn't take very long for him to see something outside and to start barking again. I hit the button again and he stopped. With a push of a button I could instantly stop my dog from barking. It was amazing. I couldn't help but to laugh. After he stopped barking I turned off the Bark Off and he went back to looking out of the window.
I kept the stop barking device by me during the day and whenever he started barking I would use it until he stopped barking. As soon as he stopped I turned it off.
The instructions say it can take three days or longer to train your dog. They were spot on. I was very pleased to find a product that actually did what it said it would and worked according to the instructions.
A few days later my neighbor's two dogs started up a barking frenzy when I was in my back yard reading. I remember reading some reviews about people using them to train their neighbor's dogs from barking. I had the Bark Off with me so I just pushed the button like I had done inside my house. I couldn't see the dogs to see their reaction but the German Sheppard immediately stopped barking. Their Maltese barked for a few more seconds then stopped. It was amazing.
I was actually able to train my neighbor's two dogs in a few days. My dog no longer barks at everyone and everything that goes by our house. He only barks now when people actually come on our property. It is nice knowing when someone has come on our property. But we are no longer bothered when someone walks or drives past our house. I fee much safer and more at ease now.
In my opinion the Bark Off did everything they said it would do. It is a great product. As a customer I don't have any complaints and could not be happier. I got the two for one price and I am glad I did. I keep one in the house and one in the car so I have it when I take him with me to friend's houses.
The ordering was very easy and the shipping was fast. The lowest price I found was on the <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link/3137445']);" href="http://barkoffreviews.org">official Bark Off website</a>.

i have brought over 3 different types of earplugs and still the barking and howling of my neighbors dogs in the early am gets through the earplugs,i need earplugs that cut every sound out,Any ideas as im going crazy-
ANSWER:
They have "disturbing the peace" laws. If this is happening at night, I would have a talk with your neighbor. If you already did or is not feasible, then call either Animal Control or the police. I don't know if there's much anybody can do if this is happening during daylight hours....My brother had the same problem - he worked nights and slept during the day and they couldn't do anything. What he ended up doing is closing all windows and having a white noise machine while he slept.

missing my dog and need some advice on what else to do HELP please?
My dog last Friday night runs up the street to see his little girlfriend, like clock work! Well this time he never came back. The next day I go around the neighborhood and show a picture asking if they have seen him and if they do where I live if so,
I am offering a hundred and fifity dollar reward.. I thought that was a nice incentive. The postman, ice creme man everyone possible.. Evey night sence then I call , look.. I've gone crazy I hear dogs bark every where, never realized how in tune I'd be ..
Ok so is there anything else creative I havn't thought of ? Anything..Also heres the kicker.. Down the street is a house and that very night I could hear a dog sounded like him.. 3:30 am. ???? Almost a week later & today I let my other two dogs out , telling them go find Pepper . They always go down there.. I still hear this dog he barks in a garage.. How do approach w/o looking suspect?-
ANSWER:
well FIRST--YOU DONT LET YOUR DOGS RUN AROUND OUT FRONT LOOSE!!!! have you called the local animal shelter to make sure he wasnt picked up? i'd go to the garage and call your dogs name and see if it responds like he knows you and talk to it. if it is your dog i'd go knock on the door or ring the bell and confront them. if they still deny it- call the police. just dont be a dumbass and tell them you LET him out. say that he "got out".. if that is not your dog you may put up posters all over locally and hope someone sees him.

(Example: Classical violin would be mahogany, NOT because the violin is mahogany, but because the sound is deep and rich, like the color mahogany) So can you help me think of sounds and their colors? Here are some examples I thought of, for sound, without the color though: Dog bark, rainstorm, wind, carnival music, coffee maker, high heels clicking, shower, teeth brushing, sizzle of hair straightener, streams, smacking gum, etc. Thanks in advance!-
ANSWER:
That is a very challenging assignment! It's not surprising you didn't get more answers.coffee maker ─ ivory. Many are white or some shade of off-white.
rainstorm/thunder ─ goldenrod. Represents lightning, but yellow is much too obvious.
stream ─ pale green. To capture the reflection of its environment while retaining (hopefully) a sense of its clarity.
carnival music ─ rainbow. Though not strictly a color, it seems to fit both the visual and auditory nature of a carnival.
wind ─ crystal. Again, not exactly a color but how else would you convey its transparency?
wolf howl ─ purple (or related shade, like darkorchid). To evoke the eeriness in the sound.
snoring ─ tan. Reminder of logs being sawed.
rusty hinge ─ brown. To simulate the color of rust.
ocean waves ─ turquoise or cyan. To simulate the color of the sea.I hope this will help get you started.

QUESTION:
I need a certain DC motor and driver for my project.?
Hi, I'm designing a project for my linear controls class, for what we call a sound activated dog door (door opens upon bark of dog). I need a DC motor that doesn't have a lot of torque, so the door can open and close slowly (we're using a freescale microcontroller to program this). So if anyone could recommend a small DC motor with little torque and a certain H-bridge IC, that would be great. Thanks!-
ANSWER:
WW Grainger carries dc motors and gear motors. So does MicroMo in Florida.

QUESTION:
How to stop dog barking in the morning?
My dog has taken to barking to get me out of bed in the morning. I have 3 dogs who sleep in the lounge at night (they have a doggy door so they can get into the garden). Anyway my shitzu maltese cross has worked out that if he barks, once every 3 seconds, in the morning I get out of bed. I'm not getting up late, at worst I'd LOVE to sleep in until 8am. If I tell him shh, which he responds to if I'm near him he completely ignores me. He'll go outside and do the same thing if his first option from the lounge doesn't work, this always results in me getting up as I have nieghbours and I don't want him to annoy them. I used awater pistol to stop his barking at me in the past. Now I just have to show him it and he stops barking. Anyway, I would love to wake up on my own terms or at least not to the sound of a barking dog. Any suggestions? Help...He's walked 2 to 3 times a day. I train them all 2- 3 times a day. He's a smart little dog.. I need to outwit him.
-
ANSWER:
Perhaps isolating the offender or yourself during sleep time may be an idea, if that's possible in your situation. Also, the water gun sounds like it's working, don't know how long you've done it, but that eventually may pan out. Good luck !

QUESTION:
Dogs barking at neighbors, good dogs and don't want people thinking they are bad....Can you help me?
Sorry for writing a novel but needed to paint a clear pictureOur poodle is currently 13 months old and our Jack Russell Mix is 9 months old
Okay it seems whenever we walk out our door (we live in an apartment) and the dogs see someone in the breezeway or walking by our poodle starts barking a little which gets are Jack Russell mix barking now it echos in the breezeway so it sounds much worse than it is. And people either run back inside or quickly walk away. We don't even get a chance to explain that we are working on this, they are sweet dogs, have never attacked anyone and have never bitten. I know any dog could unexpectedly but they have a very clean track record.
They are very sweet dogs and they love people so I don't get this barking thing.
We moved to this complex in this new town 3 months ago and it took our poodle forever to adjust infact that is when he started with the barking and soon after that our JRT mix started barking.
It seems here not many people walk their dogs much less walk so they aren't exposed to as many people and animals as they used to be, except for our weekly outings to the park. I know they need more socialization but on the weekdays its best we walk around home because if we travel to the park (now that its getting dark early) we would only be there 10 minutes before we would have to go home.
What can we do to get them to straigten up and quit this behavior before someone oneday decides to report them for it. It mostly just happens in the breezeway when we are locking our door.
Why do they do this? We've done all the training by the book from the beginning, they've been through class, we still practice all those teqhnics. It just seems since we moved to the new bigger apartment they feel they have to bark at everyone they see....
Please help me find a solution?
Also we have been using the water bottle technique (but they are starting to not mind the water)
Its only outside on the leash in the breezeway when they see people...not inside.I don't want people thinking they are viscious

ANSWER:
One barks signaling possible danger and the other joins in. Then the person(s) on the other side go away. To the dogs this says there was danger and they succeeded in chasing the danger off. Same thing happens with letter carriers. With this kind of success they keep it up.It could help defuse the situation by going to your neighbours and apologizing while explaining you are working to resolve it. Then they know what's going on while they have to live with it. Ask if anyone would be willing to help them out with the advice below. After all they and the dogs will be seeing each other so if they get a chance to know each other that would be a huge help. They know you will have the dog(s) securely on a leash.
The dogs are unclear on what is their territory and what is not.
You have to model that there is no problem and keep the dogs focused on you. It would probably be easier to work with one dog at a time or have one person working with one dog. Re-direct their focus to you by asking them to sit or lay down or shake a paw whatever. Anything that shows you are so unconcerned by these other people that you can ignore them.
It's important to teach a Quiet command. Any action you label you control.
See if you can find someone the dogs don't know to help you out. Have that person walk into the breezeway and ignore the dogs for a bit while you redirect the focus back to you. Tell them "quiet"/"shhh" whatever command you use. If they do, use lots of praise. When the dogs are calmer, walk over to this person and have them ask the dogs to sit (this tells the dogs this person is more dominant then them) and then they can give the dog a treat.
If they continue to bark, go inside so they get a consequence for barking. They are being removed and losing the situation versus being successful at chasing the other away. Wait a minute or two then come back out and repeat til they get it. There is a learning curve. The water bottle thing tells them what Not to do but teaching is about what you Do want. Ir can be frustrating to be told No. What we all want is to be told what is the thing to do.
As difficult as it sounds for you to do good hard exercise is very good for them right now. They are young, energetic and questioning what is going on in their world. Exercise does wonders for dogs.

QUESTION:
Would you report a neighbor's barking dog?
We live in a duplex with a common wall that covers our living room, kitchen and hallway/bathroom. Our neighbors in the other half of the duplex have a large dog that barks at any little thing. If so much as a bird lands in the front yard, the dog goes berserk. The dog barks when we rattle dishes in our cabinet. It barks and even lunges at the front door or windows from the moment either of us steps on the sidewalk, and goes off even more when we walk up the steps or sit on the front porch, or even open our front door to get the mail. The dog has a doggie door out the back, and the dog spends a good part of its day running in and out of the house, barking at anything and everything that moves. The dog does bark some, although less, when the owners are home.I've spoken politely with the owners and even offered some solutions and ideas, but no matter what I suggested, it is shot down with some "reason"-- he claims that the dog was"abused" and therefore is scared of people and is dog aggressive (while he told my spouse that the dog is a "highly trained guard dog"... bunk!), so they can't take her to doggy day care; they think that even citronella anti-bark collars are 'cruel'; and-- oh yeah, 'dogs BARK, that's what they do'.
Problem is, the barking starts at 5 am and goes on sometimes until late at night. The dog has been known to go out for a potty break at 2 or 3 in the morning and of course, it barks then. That in turn wakes us up. We can't even sit out in our garden or on the front porch without setting the dog off! Calls and mentions to the landlord only result in a letter to the dog's owner, but the barking continues.
I don't hate dogs! I've even had a barker, but we handled the problem with day care, or sometimes having someone come over during the day if we didn't go to day care that day. At night, our dog had her own bedroom and she learned her bedtime routine-- even patiently waiting in her room until we gave her a bedtime cookie and put her gate up. If we were slow, she'd even come into where we were to give us a slight 'woof' to indicate that she was ready to go to bed. Not these people! Indeed, we hear them actually encouraging the dog to bark. When the dog barks, they make sounds back and praise the dog! Further, they NEVER walk this dog, ever. The dog basically runs in and out of the house to the fenced yard.
I've finally told these people that the level and duration of the barking is unacceptable. I told them that we understand that dogs DO bark and that some minor barking is normal and tolerable. I've also told them that other neighbors hear the barking as well, but nothing changes. No, we won't move because we have lived here for a very long time and we like our home very much, thank you.
These folks have been here for about 2-3 years. Prior to that, there had been other people in that unit with dogs, but those dogs were basically quiet-- only barking for a few seconds, a few times a day, and those people would walk their pets! One dog, owned by a prior neighbor, was re-homed because of excessive barking and was much happier later. I'm not suggesting that these people do that, but they need to do SOMETHING besides make excuses.
In this case, would YOU report the dog to the city as a NOISE VIOLATION?
We tried the noise maker, but the dog just runs inside and keeps barking even more.
I should clarify that the dog barks indoors and outdoors, and has free run through a dog door.-
ANSWER:
I think you have exhausted all other available options. Now would be the time to report the noise. Having the support of other neighbors when the police show up would also help.

QUESTION:
Should I call the police, a dog/dogs have been barking ALL night almost a yelping?
This is night number 3 of a dog barking all night long in my neighborhood. It started around 9 and it has been non stop. It is now 3 o clock in the morning and it woke me up a half hour ago. I am 8 1/2 months pregnant with a 2 year old in bed, needless to say I need my sleep. It's like these people are leaving their dog chained up outside all night. Aside from the barking being a nuisance I am concerned about the dog it's like crying all night and no one is doing anything about it. Is this something to call the police over or do I ignore and lose sleep? Im not even sure what house it is at as im outside all day and do not here this. I live on a country road but all our houses are close together...it sounds like it is a few houses down. Hunting is big around here and I am wondering if maybe this is someones hunting dog and that's why they are not letting him inside? WHat should I do? I need to sleep.-
ANSWER:
O man I went through this last summer the neighbors would leave their dog outside one in the front and one in the back with no food or water and they would yelp all through the day and night and I was working nights at the time so the dog barked all day was really ircking me and it was bothering other neighbors as well by the time we called the cops pretty much all the neighbors were pist as well... and had a few words to add to the report. It worked the neighbors started treating the dog better and keeping him inside while they were home and I never was bothered again. I suggest you call someone to take care of this for you your pregnant and have other things to worry about then how to get any rest. They'll deal with it... one way or another... promiseNow make the call and get some rest.

my dog barks constantly and he has a really highpitched shrill bark and it drives my mom crazy
i dont really mind it but my mom is considering giving him away because it annoys her so much
so do you know any solution to stop his barking?
weve tried everything

weve tried a collar that sprays him with silicone i think whenever he barks
what else can we try?
i ment citronella not silicone
sry dumb mistake-
ANSWER:
Shake a can o' coins whenever he barks to startle him. Hose him down. Pick him up and tell him no, give him a time out in his crib/crate for a while. Praise him when he's quiet and spend more time with him.Dogs bark when they are bored and are nervous/alerted by something strange. He needs more activity, likes walks and exercise. A tired dog's a good dog.
btw: Shock collars have been actually known to start fires or malfunction - I wouldn't recommend it.

QUESTION:
How do I stop my 2 dogs from barking at my neighbors dog through the fence?
I have 2 dogs a cattle dog/border collie mix and a small terrier mix. Shortly after getting the terrier my dogs have become obsessed with barking and running after the neighbors dog. There is a wood fence separating our backyards, but the dogs can see each other through the slots and constantly bark and chase each other. My husband and I work full time so they are outside most of the day. I feel horrible for my neighbors who must listen to this barking all day. What can I do to get them to stop???? I've looked into barking collars, and electronical barriers, however they are very pricey. The quiet training sounds ok but will it work when I'm at work? I need help!!!!-
ANSWER:
I had recently had a problem with a neighbors dog that constantly barked. It irritated me during the day and kept me awake at night. To make a long story short, I finally found something to get them to stop barking. Just go to http://www.antibarkingdevice.com to check out the product
The bottom line… I popped the cd into my cd player and almost fell out of my chair when the neighbor's dog stopped barking.
You will be AMAZED! I sincerely hope this helps.
By the way, the cd will work on your own dog also.

QUESTION:
Please help! I need to train my 5 dogs!?
HiI know it sounds SOOO mad that I have five dogs, but the thing is, it is. Out of the 5 dogs only 1 is completely trained, but even he still barks. The reason we have 5 dogs isn't because we have lots of money or felt a little greedy! Firstly, I got my dog for my birthday and I love him to bits (He's the completely trained one) and then my mum saw an advertisement on epupz for another sheltie like mine and how she needs a home because she was getting scared by a big lab they own. So we bought her home and she was very quiet and timid and didn't no how to play with toys. One day we saw that both the dogs had tied and thats how we basically got a batch of puppies because we didn't want to abort them. She had 4 puppies and they were gorgeous. I begged mum to keep one and she said thats fine. We had sold 1 of the puppies but unfortunately, we couldn't sell the other 2 to anyone else. As time went on, we grew attached to them and they grow attached to us, we still couldn't find an eligible buyer for the other 2 pups so we had to keep them. The problem we have now though is that 2 years later they are still untrained and now the mother (of the pups I mean!) have grown into herself and started barking. A LOT!
These are the things I need help with:
=They are partly toilet trained and every now and then wee on the floor. How do I stop it? The carpet is getting ruined and it really smells now=They bark all the time at anything happening outside, when anyone comes to the house and when I throw a toy for one of them they all bark and get excited, so I avoid playing with them to stop disturbing the neighbors
=2 of the dogs still chew things like scarfs, chairs and shoes
=When my friends come round they get scratched to pieces from jumping up at them and even though I know its mine and my mums fault for not training them properly, I get pretty embarrassed so I don't invite my friends over
=How can we walk them all together?! Its so hard to walk them that we have to take two at a time and it would be great if they all walked together really well =)
=And last but not least, they dig holes in the garden and its such a pain filling them back up over and over again!!!
I know I've written LOADS but any advice would be a great help! Even if its one sentence, it would help a great deal =)
Thanks for your patience to read my ramblings =D
Laura xxxxxxxxxxx
I thought it was clear I was asking for help? I didn't ask if I should give my dogs away or not did I? I simply asked how I could train my dogs. They have a big house and garden to run a round in, get plenty of exercise and get lots of attention. I can asure you they are very happy. And also, for your infomation "Hoolagal" they are all neutered, thanks for the huge concern.-
ANSWER:
Reprimand or punish them for chewing things, digging holes or weeing on the floor. Plus you should get rid of your carpet- they probably keep going there because they smell the wee from before.Teach them stay- you could do it one dog at a time (take one dog into another room and teach it 'stay' in a few hours, then the next day you practice it with that dog and teach another, then you practice with two and teach the third etc). Then you practice this all the time- for example, every single time you feed them, you bring each dog to a separate part of the floor and that dog has to stay there with the food bowl in front of it until you tell it it's okay to eat. Everything the dog wants, it gets only if it sits or lies down first. That way when your friends come over you can just put the dogs into 'stay'. It's not that hard to teach, with lots of practice, and it's incredibly useful.
The same goes for heel- take the dogs out one or two at a time until they know how to heel well and walk quietly beside you. If a dog misbehaves you reprimand it, if it won't listen you turn around and leave it at home, and take the good dog out again to play. Then start walking with the 3 best-behaved dogs to give them the idea, and then you'll be able to walk four. It's like greyhounds- you see people walking 5 or 6 greyhounds on lead together, and it's because they all know how to walk on lead well.
They sound bored. Shelties are very clever dogs with lots of energy, so they might need a bit more to do. Could you do agility with them, or herding or something? You see lots and lots of shelties doing agility and obedience. They need a job so that they can have something to focus on and to occupy them. If they're not bored they won't dig holes and they might not bark as much.
You probably need a professional dog trainer to help with these problems. Otherwise you could take one or two dogs to an obedience course, and then you could apply what you learn there to the other dogs.

QUESTION:
i have 2 dogs and a one bedroom apartment, need advice?!?
i just mooved in an apartment with one bedroom with decent space, i have 2 dogs, one dobberman 80 pounds and one pitbull/rottweiller 90 pounds. they both bark when they hear any sounds, since its an apartment and compared to my parents house, theres more sounds obviously. my lanlord had allowed me to bring one dog, but then she found out i had 2, so i had to let one go back to my parents house. the thing is i feel bad that the two are seperated and that they spend the hole day alone at home each one on their side. do you think there is a way i can bring the both to my apartment and that they can get used to the sounds and enviroment? i dont want my neighboors to notice and the thing is i live on i live on the first floor, next to the entrance door, so my dogs are always barking as soon as they see someone threw the window, or hear the door opening. it seems that when they are alone, they are easier to control, but the two of them together give me a hard time sometimes.....they are 3 yr old. im waiting for some good advice....-
ANSWER:
Honestly.......... You really shouldn't have even one dog that big in an apartment. Big dogs like rottie's and dobie's need a lot of room, and the oportunity to go outside. If you bring the other dog back to the apartment and your landlord finds out, they can evict you because you're breaking the lease agreement, and that's a legal document.
You can try citronella bark collars that spray an orange scent into the dogs face when they bark, but if your dog likes oranges, it won't help (my poodle LOVES oranges and will bark just to smell the orange coming out) much.
You might feel bad about separating the "babies", but bigger dogs will always be easier to handle one on one.
Just be sure that you're taking the dog for plenty of long walks and to the park to play with it's friend when you get home from work.
Set up play dates or day care dates, where your parents will keep the dog that lives with you during the day so they are together, or set up play dates for after work, where you can pick the other dog up, or meet your folks at the local park for some play time.

QUESTION:
Do I need to go back to the dr? My cough hasn't gone after 3 weeks now.?
I've gone through a course of amoxycillin, but I'm still coughing really bad and it sounds like a dog barking. Some times I even bring up some blood. The Dr said my chest was clear, but it's not nice having this cough all the time. I'm physically worn out from it. My nose has run this whole time too, so it's also getting to be a pain! Any ideas? How long after a course of anti biotics should I see an improvement, just incase I'm being over anxious here. I finished the course this week on tuesday morning.
I did wonder when he said my chest was clear.... I always thought that you had to have an infection for anti biotics to work. I am also doing steam inhalations, but only when I remember.... I hate doing them, so maybe I should try harder with them huh?-
ANSWER:
Hi Hun...i am not sure that anti biotic work with a cough unless an infection is present as well, my mum used to suffer a lot with her chest and she was told a cough has to run its course and theres no miracle cure for it, have you tried Vicks vapour rub on your chest and Cavonia cough syrup, sorry i cant help more..

QUESTION:
uh oh my dogs bark is changing is it possible?
well my dogs,Rufus, bark is changing. He's about 3 years now and its become more and more noticeable. i cant explain his "before" bark but now it has a squeak in it and it sounds like a puppy bark kinda. i don't know what happening to my dog and its freaking me out. please help me(: his bark is high and yes annoying but its changing like guys going through puberty. so please help i need it badly-
ANSWER:
Dogs have many different sorts of barks, and they all mean different things. Repetitive, high pitched barking is usually a sign that they are playing or want to play. Low, slow barks are "guard barks", like get of my property or away from my stuff. He's far too old to be going through puberty.
If this sound he is making is new, I would take him to the vet. He could have something lodged in his throat or some other health problem.

QUESTION:
Do i need to separate this paragraph into smaller paragraphs?
It should have been a normal Sunday morning, the sound of barking dogs woke me up. Nothing too strange about that except it sounded like all the dogs in my town. I felt a prickle in the back of my neck, but I told myself I was being silly. I got up and looked out of the window; nothing out of the ordinary, except a weird sort of misty greyness in the sky. I was sure it should have been lighter than this at 9:30 in the morning. I went into the front room where my little brother was playing, “The TV isn’t working”, he said. I flicked the switch a couple of times but nothing happened. Then mum got up and went into the kitchen to make coffee. “That’s strange; the kettles not working maybe the electric key has run out” “The TVs not working either” I added. Mum checked the meter but the screen was blank. She went into the bedroom to wake dad. “There’s probably been a power cut” he said “nothing to worry about”. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t quite right, just a tingle in my skin. It was giving me the creeps. “God, why are those dogs making such a racket?” dad said annoyed. “Still if there is no electricity we might as well get dressed a go out for breakfast.” Everyone agreed so we got ready, “There’s no cat food, I’ll just run to the shop before we go” said mum. When she got back she had a strange look on her face, “it was closed, and it’s always open on Sunday mornings. It was odd there was no one about at all, the street was completely empty not even any cars.” She looked worried. “What? Like we are the only people in town!” laughed dad. “You definitely need that cup of coffee!” mum smiled sarcastically but I could tell she didn’t think it was funny. My stomach was starting to churn, I really didn’t want to go anywhere but at the same time I didn’t want to stay indoors.-
ANSWER:
You should indent every time someone is speaking. Every time you change speakers, you should indent again. Like this... (I don't think I can indent in Yahoo Answers, so when you see a space, the next sentence should be indented). It should have been a normal Sunday morning, the sound of barking dogs woke me up. QUESTION:
My dog never barks ,this happent for a year now.?
My dog looks stupid never barks, this happent for a year now,is there any trick or sound to <> up?
I read on internet for some <> high frequency sounds that only dogs can hear them but i cant find anyone for downloading.
I need sound only dogs can hear them,i dont want to drive crazy the family.-
ANSWER:
If your dog's a basenji, I'm afraid you're just outta luck. Although they can howl, they can't bark. Just because he doesn't bark doesn't mean he's not alert, though. My min-pin mix wouldn't vocalize the first year I had her, but that was because she lived in a concrete-walled room before I got her, and had lost some hearing from the echoes of all the other dogs barking. Better for her to "look stupid" and keep her mouth shut than open it and remove all doubt (and hearing!)If you're really wanting your dog to vocalize, try getting the dog into a place where he feels comfortable but alert - decent-sized room with a window or fenced yard with a view of squirrels and/or cats is a decent idea - and bring over a dog that he gets along with who knows how to bark on command. Get them excited about visiting with their buddy and the neighbor/cat/wild animal outside their yard by using an upbeat tone of voice and happy, wriggly body movement. Tell the trained one to bark. Prepare for the dog formerly known as "Silent Bob" to now bark at all the neighbors, and the cats, and your brother... The next trick you'll need to teach them is "hush."
If you do suspect deafness (congenital deafness is very common in blue-eyed white animals) or larnyx issues, talk with your vet. There are specialists like Dr. Peter Scheifele who can even fit hard-of-hearing dogs with hearing aids out there, for insane amounts of money.

QUESTION:
Do you sometimes feel that you just need a break from taking care of your dogs?
I do infact, there were a few times I wanted to go for a holiday away from them. All my dogs have gone for boarding at someone else's place today & will come back tomorrow evening because there's a renovation going on right in my porch. We finally have grass in our porch! The floors outside & inside the house are getting painted with a non-slip paint so nobody can walk all over the place till it's fully dried the next day.The house feels so peaceful without them. No barking, no grunting noises from plying wrestling game, no water spilled all over the floor from drinking water, no sounds of pieces paper being torn, sounds of them crashing into things in the house, things being pulled down & destroyed, etc. I don't even have to worry about bringing them out 3-4 times a day, feed them & watch over them especially the puppies. They are always up to something & they always do it quietly when I am not watching.
You know, I love my dogs but sometimes I just need a one day break from taking care of them. I really feel kinda happy without them here today. I can relax, do my own thing & also not worry about moping urine & picking up sh*t in the porch. I am beginning to miss them though but I'm not going to worry so much because I know those monkeys are having the time of their lives at the boarder's place! They're having their own holiday as well as me.
So tell me, do you sometimes feel like I feel? You just need a one day break from the dogs?
Let me know.
Greekman - I am kinda used to it. I am not working so I am at home 24 hours. My pups are monsters & the moment they are given freedom inside the house especially, they go wild. They usually gang up together to do naughty stuff. If there's only one of them let out loose & the other two in their playpen, he/she will be as well behaved as my adults. It is when they are together, they become wild...
Jack - They are OB trained up to Novice level already & they are only 5 1/2 months old. They KNOW there are rules & boundaries in the house & they KNOW they are not allowed to do certain things but when three puppies gang up together, that is when they start doing their nonsense. I am always there to reprimand them when they do soemthing they're not allowed. It will take some time for them to stop this because they are still young. The only way to stop them from doing these rubbish is to crate them but it's not fair they are crated all day. Banging into things in the house are caused by the slippery floor when they run in & out & slip so that's why the floor is getting painted with non-slip paint to prevent this from happening again.
Anne B - Our floors are tiled. Houses in Malaysia only use tiles because it's a hot & humid country. The paint we're using is meant for bathrooms & floors that often get wet. The painted tiles become very rough & when you pour water on it, you won't slip. I tried to purposely make myself slip on it but couldn't. So the floor is much more safer now for the dog's. Won't destroy their joints too.-
ANSWER:
I know exactly how you feel. I love my dogs dearly but there are times when I feel I would like a break from them. I have not had a holiday for 4 years because it is difficult to find a reliable dog sitter and I will not put my dogs in Kennels. Apart from the fact that I hate the thought of them being there, the cost of kenneling 11 dogs would be horrendous. All my dogs are well trained but, naturally, the younger ones must have their fun and are continually playing with each other and generally getting under my feet. One of my girls had a litter 4 months ago and I kept three puppies from this litter so they are now getting to the really mischievous stage and have started to dig and generally wreck my garden and they play/fight non-stop.
Feeding 11 dogs twice a day and cleaning up after them is a mammoth task plus all the grooming it entails to keep them all in top condition.
So...yes, I wouldn't mind a break, but my dogs are more important to me and a luxury holiday in some exotic location doesn't come into the equation. This is the life I have chosen so I shall just keep mopping up pee and shovelling up the poop and enjoying my beloved Goldens as long as I am able.
Enjoy your break but just think of the welcome you'll get when they all return. lol!

QUESTION:
My dog keeps barking and digging holes?
My dog keeps barking and digging holes? it's not as stupid as it sounds, i know dogs are dogs and thats what they do and i love him for it,
I walk him at least once a day (and he's tired, i am walking him enough) but he barks and the next door neighbours have a problem and yell at him all the time what can i do?
He also constantly licks people on their pants and their face and their shoes..
I
we're staying at my partner's mum's house, she has a small backyard and fussy neighbours, and there's nothing i can do I KNOW DOGS BARK AND DIG HOLES haha, i'm not stupid, i just need some advice on how i can reduce this as much as possible for the time being-
ANSWER:
Your dog needs training. Yelling and hitting does nothing. If you can't afford a trainer, buy a book. Dogs need consistency, when they do something right reward them. When they do something wrong correct the behavior. Also "NO" is not a command (it is not an action) say sit or come, change what the dog is doing. Practice, practice, practice.

QUESTION:
How can I teach my puppy to speak?!?
He's a little over a year old now, and he can be really quiet most of the time, but at others he goes into a bark/howling rampage sometimes for no reason. He just stands in the middle of the whole house and keeps barking. But I tried teaching him how to speak, and I had my mom keep replaying this dog barking sound effect on youtube, and he barked at that and I kept repeating speak during the process and I really thought he got it, but my mom left the room but I shut the office door to keep him from running out and he kept going towards the door but I kept saying speak during the whole sound effect and giving him treats immediately whenever he barked (they were short, low and kind of quiet barks) but after that I stood in front of the door with a treat and the sound playing and I kept saying speak but instead he bark/whimpered kind of quietly but loud enough for me to hear, and I gave him a treat but kept trying after that and finally let him out because I could tell we both got fed up, but he just wanted to go to my mom. When I went to where him and my mom was, I kept saying speak speak speak and holding the treat right near his nose and then near him but he didn't do anything. He just looked at me and looked around the bedroom. Probably cause he got tired of training (he starts giving up and getting annoyed whenever I do a lot of training) but I tried doorbell sounds and dog barking sounds but he STILL DOESN'T UNDERSTAND! He's an EXTREMELY smart dog, he's actually a cockapoo (Cocker spaniel/Poodle mix) (Poodles are the second smartest dogs in the world) and he knows shake, high five, (he's still learning beg. He knows it but he doesn't stay up long. Only for one second.) He also knows what walkies means, he knows sit, stay, tap with his paw wherever you point to or whatever you hold out, jump, lie down, roll over, bang (play dead), and spin. He also learned Knuckle Touch in about, 2-3 minutes last night! (I held out my fist and he tapped it with his paw) Does anybody know how I can teach him this? It doesn't need to be fast, but I want him to understand, and I know it'll take some time, but does anybody have some tips to teach him how to speak fast enough? I make him sit or lie down and say speak, but he doesn't do it unless he hears the dog barking sound effect on youtube. >:/
@jesus lol that made me laugh at first, but not the answer I was looking for xD-
ANSWER:
It sounds like to me the dog may already knows how to bark on command and just is being hard. your doing real good with the training. I told the dog fine don't talk to me I don't want to hear your pretty little voice anyway and the damn dog barked at me and still to this day wont shut up! I love him so much but he can be so aggravating. Ill be sleeping and if his old ass needs to go out he comes to my face while im asleep and barks loudly, ill have dog lips and slobber on my face. sorry for not giving a direct answer

QUESTION:
I need a title for a story i wrote about a vet?
idc if you think its good or not i just need a title
and give me a break im 11I was standing at the doors entrance totally prepared to rush the abused dog to the operating room. Over one hundred animals were rushed in. I saw her coming on the stretcher; she was badly cut and emaciated, barley clinging to life. (2) I quickly anesthetized her, making sure it was done expeditiously. It was fastidious that I administer an IV, without it she wouldn’t live. I desperately wanted to save her, but to be honest I didn’t know if I could. (1). I felt apathy to the other animals coming in from the same abusive owner. I was determined to save this one. I could smell the stagnant stench of all the animals coming in. I reached the operating room and hooked her up to the heart rate monitor. When her heart rate started to increase in speed I knew I had to work fast. I paged other veterinarians on the staff and they all came running, however, only a few could come because there were so many animals. (3). Her tan fur was stained with fresh blood. She was the animal in the worst condition so she should have come first and foremost to every member of the staff.
I was irresolute to where to begin; there were so many wounds and gashes. of us spoke in a laconic way, the more efficient the better. We began stitching all the gashes, and refilling the IV. My heart began to degenerate as I watch her life slip before my eyes as if it was my own. The room started to blur before I realized it was the tears in my eyes fogging my vision. The constant beeping stopped, ending with a long drone; Everything was quiet. Unless she was dead for ten minutes, I promised myself I wouldn’t give up. (4) I stared straight into her closed eyes. Then the beeping started again and with nothing but a sigh of relief we began again.
After the operation we cloistered her in a comfortable cage to give her a few hours to recover. The cage gave her a refuge; a safe feeling so when she wakes up she will know she can just rest. I filled out the metal nameplate on he cage. It read “lucky”. Yes, not original, but definitely true.
I went and helped with the other animals. It was my job to take them back to the recovery cages. One seemed as if it had claustrophobia; it would to anything to get out of the small cage. I simply upbraided it and the trouble was stopped. Each time I dropped an animal off there I checked on Lucky, in two weeks she was ready to get up and move around a little, her fur was still stained with blood; therefore it was time for her to get a bath.
I ascended her up into the bath. During the entire thing not once did I have to repress her from getting out, as I have to for most animals. Lucky, who was a very special dog, seemed to know I was there to help so she trusted me. (7) I rewarded her from her decorum with a treat and went home fugitively with her in the back seat of my car; I was going to foster her until she was ready for adoption. It was a mutinous decision, as I hadn’t notified anyone of my doings.
I woke up the next morning from a high-pitched barking sound. But it wasn’t just one bark, it sounded like multiple dogs. I ran downstairs and there was lucky, with four puppies lying by her side, eyes still closed. They all whimpered as I stood there in shock. One of them whined so loudly I thought something was wrong with it, but Lucky just placated and pulled him closer to her. I immediately noticed one puppy; it was so tiny, no bigger then the size of a hamster. It was barley breathing so I rushed over to it, Lucky must have known I was trying to help because she let me take her puppy away. I left Lucky with her other puppies and rushed to the vet office. Without delay, they set her up on oxygen and fed her through a feeding tube. The puppy was too far-gone though. I had no idea how Lucky would react when she realized her little puppy was dead. (6)
The puppy was going to die no matter what the staff did. She was in an indignant, even destitute condition. I took her back home to Lucky and let her lay beside her so they could spend their last moments together. When the puppy finally took its last breath, Lucky had a grievous looking face. She lay there with it for hours before I finally took it away from her. I decided the rest of the puppies would go to the shelter when they were old enough. (5) In a furtive way I took time to exam each puppy, all of them seemed to be doing well. I needed no regimen; Lucky had her own. As the puppies grew bigger it seemed there was a teeming amount of them. They would constantly jump and break things, not to mention accidents in the house.
When they were close to eight weeks old I decided it was best to put them up for adoption. I took them back to she shelter and filled out their forms to live at the shelter until adoption from other individuals. I also filled out one more form, my adoption form for Lucky.-

QUESTION:
good breeds of dogs or mixes?
im looking for a very good mix of dog. i have a very difficult list of needs in a dog. the mix has to have the following:
1. it cant be a super small dog like a yorkie or pug because i need something that my children can rough around slighty and play with.2. it needs to have guard dog instincts. i go for a daily run and i would like it to be able to protect me and at home to warn me of intruders.
3. it can not bark all the time. while i realize all dogs do some breeds are known for the incessant barking.
4. it needs to be cute. that sounds bad but i dont want one like a rottweiler that looks mean all the time.
5. it is an absoutlute must that it gets along with cats and small children.
i am planning on getting it as a puppy if that helps at all. and if you find a regular breed that fits these rquierments then it doesn't have to be a mix. it just seemed like a mix would be easier to meet the standards/
also it cannot be lazy. i need an active dog to run and play with. people mentioned mastiffs but they are known for their laziness.-
ANSWER:
What about the GSD, most are very good with children and other pets, you would just have to carefully check out the parents, they also enjoy running and playing. Very good guard dogs, but most are not vicious

QUESTION:
our dachshund freaks out when it sees other dogs? what can we do?
I know dachshunds are barkers, but our mini dachshund (1 year and a few months old) loves certain dogs and certain friends of ours. When she sees dogs that she does not know or people that she does not know, she absolutely freaks out and starts barking and yelping...it almost sounds like she is being attacked and hurt. Any dachshund owners experience this as well??? any advice? it is really embarassing and we need to get her to stop. thanks.-
ANSWER:
Find a local dog obedience trainer who has group classes. Explain your situation, and maybe he can help you. Our local guy has doggy daycare and I'm sure he would let you have some one on one lessons there while all the dogs are there, too. Your dog needs socialized.

QUESTION:
Barking scares my Neapolitan puppy, How to stop this?
I recently got a Neapolitan puppy and he is the sweetest thing in the world, the only thing is---the sound of other dogs barking scares the crap out of him. I cant take him outside to go to the bathroom if there is another dog barking in the neighborhood, and if he sees somewhere to run and hide he will and then it takes quite a while to get him out of wherever he is. I had to drag him out from under my car last night in the rain...not fun. He goes everywhere with me so he is well socialized but it never seems to get better. I dont want him to become a fear-agressive dog and I really want him to get over this fear of his. He is only 10 weeks, we got him at 7 weeks and he has done it since day one. I cant imagine that anything happened to him as a puppy to cause this, the breeder was very good and I never got any bad feeling around his dogs or his kennel at all. I just need some advice on how to curb this behavior before it becomes a permanent thing.-
ANSWER:
What you are describing sounds like a genetic issue. The puppy has genetically bad nerves and they will not get any better with exposure and socialization, if anything, they will get worse!! This is not the type of dog to own with weak nerves, not at his size and strength when he matures and as you mentioned you are looking at a future fear biter because that is what happens to dogs like that.
Take the dog back to the breeder and demand a full refund and look for another breeder that you can purchase a puppy from. Remember, we are talking about a HUGE dog that will become a HUGE responsibility if not genetically sound. Please, do not listen to others who will tell you to give him chance and he may outgrow this problem because he will not.
Take care!!

QUESTION:
what is the best pet bird for me i need a bird that doesnt make a lot of sound and is easy to take care of?
my dogs will bark at a loud sound from a bird and my dad said i could get a bird if it wont drive the dogs crazy and i need one that is not very big so plz help as fast as you can HELP PLZ-
ANSWER:
What are you wanting out of a bird other than small and relatively quiet? Do you want a cage pet that you don't really have a lot of interaction with other than feeding and cleaning the cage? If so I would recommend a pair of finches (they need to be kept in 2's or more to do well) If you want a bird you can interact with more but is still quiet, but don't plan on trying to teach it to talk then you could consider a diamond or ring neck dove. Both can be hand tamed and kept as solo pets if you plan to interact with them or if you prefer them as cage only pets the can be kept in pairs. If you would like a bird that is more interactive and could possible learn to talk but will be a bit louder then I would recommend a budgie or a cockatiel. Both will occasionally have noisy outbursts but are fairly quiet and are much quieter than most other parrot species.

QUESTION:
New puppy barking & jumping against doors at night? Need a solution quickly?
I picked up an 9 week old labrador two days ago.I live in a small semi detached house, I don't think the walls are too well insulated for sound because sometimes I can hear my neighbours running up the stairs and slamming doors.
On the first night he started barking as soon as I went to bed. So I ended up sleeping beside him to calm him down.
Last night he was quiet until 4am. Then he started jumping against the door of the room where he is kept and barking and crying really loudly. My neighbours have a newborn baby so I tried to shut him up by coming down every time he barked, shouting at him and giving him a push or a tiny slap on the nose. This was no good and I ended up coming down every fews minutes so it was very frustrating. I ended up sleeping beside him once more so he would calm down.
Tonight will be the third night. It is raining outside at the moment. For the last hour any time he barks I have been picking him up, given him a stern shout not to do it then put him outside in the rain for a few minutes and let him in once he stops barking
My original tactic was to let him bark his little head off for the first few nights until he tired himself out and not to come downstairs to him until I got up for work. But I live with a person who was completely against getting a dog and they are making my life hell that the dog is barking and I am worried my neighbours are probably going mental with the dog barking and waking up their baby.
Will putting him outside the house everytime he barks actually work? After doing it 5 times already tonight he is quiet but he'll probably wake up in a few more hours and start barking again.
Is it safe to put a 9 week old puppy out in the rain for 2 minute intervals? I dry him off each time I bring him in.
Does anyone have any solutions?

ANSWER:
train him

QUESTION:
stop my dog from barking..?
attention dog experts out there..i need your help to stop my dog from barking..
i've tried squirting him with water but he seems to enjoy the water and tries catching it with his mouth..
i've tried the electric bark collar..it worked for the first few months but after a while it only agitated him more thus making him bark even harder..
i take him out for his walks everyday for an hour of solid walking..but he still barks..
i don't really know what triggers his barking..i think its the random sounds that he hears on the other side of the fence, he just goes crazy..
he doesn't bark on our walks..i think that's the only time he's actually well behaved..he's good with people and other dogs..so i don't understand why he's barking..
i don't want to have to get his vocal cords done or surrender him to the pound..
please help me...-
ANSWER:
Barking is extremely annoying and most dogs will bark if they hear noises they do not anticipate. If you find that your dog is barking a lot at sounds that are unfamiliar to him, he maybe scared of specific sounds. One option is if you are at home, quickly distract him with a toy, or by placing pennies in a soda can and shaking them.
Barking can be very frustrating, do not have his vocal cords cut that is extremely bad idea and it is not good for your dog it is inhumane.

what does this mean?
obviously i cant go to the docter today. and it not geting worse or better.-
ANSWER:
As long as you're not running a fever, having shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, coughing up large amounts of phlegm, it sounds like a virus. If it persists for another few days, then maybe. Another thing to consider, is anyone else in your life sick with similar symptoms? If it is in fact a virus the doctor wouldn't be able to help you. You'll just have to let it run it's course, and treat symptoms. (Tylenol for fever, etc.)

QUESTION:
HELP! The dog across the street sounds distressed!!!!?
It's been raining on and off for the last hour. I went outside about 10-15 min. ago to cover up some boxes and heard him/her. I opened up a window when I came back inside and haven't heard him/her stop whining and/or barking since. He/she is yelping in way that makes it sound like there are two dogs over there. But there's only one dog. I assume he/she is REALLY trying to get thier attention and I want to help! Does the dog even need help? I don't know if they usually keep the dog inside when they go to bed, but I have heard him/her bark late at night (usually barking at any/everything). It seems that at sme point, the dog gets let in on those nights, but I can't be too sure.I don't know the people and I don't want to upset anyone. I almost want to go look over the fence to see if the dog has shelter. I don't want to knock on doors at this hour, but might consider it if the dog had no shelter and it started raining again... S#it!
